Yes, that's a perfect description of the interior--glad to know my hunch on the date is most likely correct.
The sleeves on the coat are the perfect length for me, really rare generally but especially in a man's coat.
Good eye--I loaned the coat to Paddy while he was on the East Coast...
Lately I've been wearing a gentleman's Harris Tweed overcoat. From the label I think it dates from the 1950's. I bought it in an antique store in rural PA this summer for a song and it looked like it had never been worn. I've had the Laura Ashley hat for almost 20 years.
Thank you! I believe this was used as the dining room originally, but due to the fireplace I've turned it into the living room. The woodwork in this condo is a big reason I knew this was "the one". As a friend of mine said while looking at the plate rail and mantle in this room "Well, you...
That is one amazing dress! I love the color combination, the use of the stripe as a design element, the little jacket. And what a deal too! You look fabulous--please be sure to tell us all about the evening too.
Agh! The agony of defeat! Good thing the wedding isn't 'till June. The waistcoat looks great though, so it's not a total loss.
Hopefully one of the others will pan out though.
Amazing work!
Are these repaints (out of the box dolls you repaint--and if so, which dolls do you use?) or do you actually create the figures?
Do you create the clothes and accessories as well?
Thanks for this pdxvintagette--I'm in the market for some new specs. Within the space of about 2 weeks I stepped on one pair of glasses and broke the arm irrepairably and fell asleep in 2 pair of rimless, making them into pretzels. I think I need to go with another pair of hard plastic frames...
This isn't strictly golden age but I came across this gingerbread house today (I am doing work too, honest!)
:offtopic: I've always wanted to make this geodesic dome gingerbread house from Mother Earth magazine--so random!
I haven't visited this thread in awhile Miss 1929, so sorry for the lateness of my reply. I'd be happy to make a copy of this for you. PM me your address and all.
Thanks for the tip on the Moleskin (love the Moleskin!) too. I have about 3 things in various stages of construction; I...
I heard this work read aloud and it made all the difference in the world for me--much easier to follow and the use of language just bloomed (no pun intended) when spoken. I've always meant to try and read it, but so far it remains on the "to be done" list.
Wow, Carol! I've never seen one that elaborate before! The table base is to die for.
I have a simpler set with chairs almost exactly like yours except they're stained, not painted. All in storage, alas.
Please post pictures when you've finished the repainting!
