That's gorgeous fabric Marty.

I have to visit my mother, probably in the spring, and when I'm in Mpls. I'm definitely stopping by your shop. I seem to recall thinking "skyways" when reading about your place--you're downtown, yes?
Great find Fletch--that coat looks like it...
I was reading the comments at The Sartorialist--it cracked me up some of the guys were quibbling about the cut of Ray's pants, his pocket square, etc. while most of the posters who was identified as female said things like "sexy" or "he looks devastating" or "I wish all guys dressed like this...
I read this and for some reason in my head I said in my best midwestern accent "Oh gee, good deal there scotrace!" I had to shake my head to return to my normal voice and think "Meat prices have been insane lately, but that's the holidays for you I guess".
Thanks for the review--I'm looking forward to this one (I'll probably go Christmas day). Burton's one of my favorite filmmakers and that cast sounds great. Glad to hear you liked it.
Chiming in on this great picture--it almost looks to me like she's causing the puzzle pieces to levitate, which is even more eerie!
I'm interested to hear the answer to the wallpaper question too.
Lutefisk--eek! I went to a high school with kids of mostly Swedish and Norwegian descent and every year they'd have a very serious discussion on how to avoid eating the lutefisk their grandparents would bring over for Christmas. They were all jealous of me because I was of Irish descent and I...
You did see Elizabeth: The Golden Age didn't you? To use a poor simile, Cate Blanchett was the cake in that movie and Clive was surely the frosting. Sigh.
That's a luscious green! So 40's. I've got a plainer version of that coat (all black, persian lamb on the long collar only) and I wear it constantly. Does yours close with hooks and eyes too?
I agree! I'm nearly finished with my copy from the library (1/2 through the "Retooling for WWII" chapter). Clear explainations, insightful commentary and I love her humorous asides about ridiculous dialogue, her experience as an usher in the late 40's/50's and fan magazines.
I'll...
I know Datamancer's keyboards have been discussed in this thread but I don't think his laptop has been shown (and if it has been, heck, it's cool enough to merit a second look).

Can you even imagine being able to make...
We got another 5" today in Boston--it was really beautiful to look at, heavy, wet snow that stuck to all the tree branches and swirled down most of the day in big fat flakes (I forgot my camera though so no pictures, alas).
Not only did you learn how to post pics, but you can put those nifty frames around them too! Great cufflinks--I love novelty pieces that open and such.
It looks like they pulled many of the best art deco pieces from the Parlour Bar and other locations at the last minute; maybe they came somewhat to their senses? Seems to me they should have kept some of those pieces and publicized them better (the piano Frank Sinatra played, the bed Marilyn...
Only about 8 years and she'll have the longest reign of any British monarch too. I have no doubt she'll make that milestone (barring some catastrophe).
This is brilliance--I would never have thought to put these patterns/colors together but they look outstanding. The pants are fantastic too. Wish we had a full length picture with your face though, Marty!
