    Show Us Your Purchases!

Hi there! Thanks for the welcome! Long story short, lost my old job and my old computer last fall (luckily I had backed up my data this time). But now I've got a new job and a new computer so here I am! Best, IOF

    Show us what you've made!

I'd be quoting all day if I gave individual kudos so I'll just give a general but heartfelt "great work ladies!" This thread has inspired me to make that tweed skirt I've been thinking about lately.

What she said! Love the suit too.

    Pampering

'Bout the only pampering thing I've splurged on recently is my big bottle of Coco Mademoiselle perfume that I got over a year ago. It was expensive but the bottle is so pretty and I haven't even used half of it yet so I think it was a good buy. There's a Thomas Pink shirt I've got my eye...

    What are you listening to?

    Show us your vintage home!

This is not my vintage home (alas) but the home of friends who threw a Holiday party this year. They have some lovely art deco pieces.

Is the suit relevant in your life?

Thanks Paddy, that means alot to me. It's good to be back.

    Favorite Christmas movies

I was just going to mention this one! Great minds Mike! One of my favorite lines in a movie full of wonderful lines concerns Christmas: Nora: I'II give you your Christmas present now,if you'II give me mine. Nick: At breakfast. Nora: It's Christmas now. Nick...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Yes, I'd love to see the silent version, I've read so much about it. Even better to see it on the big screen, but I fear that not likely to happen soon.

"Doctor Who," He's Back and it's About Time!

I don't envy anyone who has to step into Tennant's Chuck Taylors but put me in the "trusting those in charge" camp. One of my friends said she hoped that Matt Smith cut his "emo hair" before he steps into the role. This thread also reminds me that I'm shamefully behind in my Who viewing.

    The 'Douglas' contest

This thread cracks me up--if only I had a fedora I'd submit an entry myself. You can be sure I'll be following it avidly!

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Ben Hur on PBS. Boy, is it long! Good background noise whilst I pull together a presentation--I'm looking forward to Antiques Roadshow soon though.

    What are you wearing today??

Oh, that color is stunning on you! What a lovely suit! Gosh, I've missed this thread.

Calling Cards (name cards, not phone cards)

I LOVE that card LD! I'd expect nothing less than graphically stylish from you though.

Is the suit relevant in your life?

I agree with many of the other respondents that it's becoming quite rare to see suits in the workplace, and mores the pity. It's odd that wearing a suit has become a way to stand out from the crowd. I wore one of my vintage suits to a job interview at a design firm a couple months ago. It...

    COOLEST Menswear Pamphlet Ever Printed

Delightful! I'm tempted to toodle over to Tremont and Bromfield to see if there's any evidence of their Boston outpost left.

    Christmas Window Displays.

Oh Marty! What marvelous displays! I'm especially in love with the suit that has the fly in the lapel--that's gorgeous fabric. I really do have to get to Minnesota to visit relatives this year--is it awful that I'm more excited about visiting your store when I finally do get there?

Barbigirl - Injured In Auto Accident (Update: & On The Mend!)

I haven't logged into the Lounge for awhile so I've just heard of this terrible news. I was lucky enough to spend some time with her at the last Queen Mary event and a nicer person you'll never meet. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers Barbigirl.

    Show us your vintage patterns!

That's so pretty Cassylynn, you'll have to tell us how it turns out! I bought a couple patterns from Eva Dress, including one that was discontinued (I asked about it and she was kind enough to go rummaging for me). Great customer service and she couldn't be nicer.
