North by Northwest was on last night. One of my favorite escapist movies. As much as I love Eva Marie Saint I really wish Grace Kelly had been in that film.
Large size sleeveless 50's dress and short sleeved sweater...$250.00!
Cute but so easily reproduced for about $40 if you didn't get a sale on the fabric.
Fun thread!
My grandmother was quite a clothes horse and saved everything she and her mother wore...and then gave it all to a local theater company when I was about 5 (too young to protest!). Breaks my heart everytime I think of it.
I've always loved the country house in The Women--a wonderful kitchen that I can't find a photo of just now. And, of course, there's always Manderley (just fire that housekeeper before you move in).
Good to have a thread for this LD, thanks!
The best book I've ever found on this topic is Mayo Clinic Healthy Weight for Everybody.--probably available at your local library if you're interested It's helped me keep the weight I lost off for several years now. There is a diet on the...
Amazing! Too bad they don't put that much effort into their designs these days.
I've seen so many pictures of your Plymouth on the Lounge I feel like I know it! If I ever get out to the West Coast again I'll have to beg a ride.
I really, really need to stop biting my fingernails--it's getting ridiculous. I've thought about getting shortish fake ones put on for awhile while my real ones grow out. Hmmm. I'm off to the "Make Your Nails Strong" thread right now!
I got the full set of House of Elliott for Christmas and I'm enjoying it greatly! It's rather a guilty pleasure but the clothes are wonderful. Some of the lines are too. I think my favorite is "Is there nothing father wouldn't spend his money on but us?!" "Someone has stolen our designs!"...
Look at the curves on the front fender and the way the grille curves at the bottom with the middle of the front bumper curved out too. And then the windshield curved back in the opposite direction. That's just industrial poetry.
You're smart to know your limits--a too high heel can be agony inducing, no doubt.
I really like these shoes (very pretty heel), you can't go wrong whichever color you pick. Does the brown have more of a color difference between the body of the shoe and the accents?
I know what you mean Laura--the strap and buckle are a bit thick and that made me hesitate, along with the heel height, which is a tad high for me. But the pierced body of the shoe, the color combo and the shape of the toe piece won me over (along with the sale price, of course!). I've never...
Those are great, and so are the hats--I especially like that pale green! I like looking at all the things on your dresser and walls too.
I haven't bought much lately but I've got two dresses on the way that I'm really excited about. If they fit when they arrive I'll post pictures.
It seems especially silly to get worked up about a Winslet nude scene--seems like she has one in practically every film she does (and very true about the Internet).
I'm intrigued by this film but waiting for more reviews from folks I know.
