What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

I love macro shots like this showing this level of detail -- we need more of them!

What hat are you waiting for today?

Probably not very helpful, but I did a newspaper search, and found the text: "Chappell Clothing in Nebraska, with FA Schroeder Proprieter", with ads starting in 1926, ending in 1963.

What hat are you waiting for today?

Thank you sir! Several customizations on a cataloged item, all using their website interface. Here was the starting hat: https://www.hnc-hatworks.com/en-us/products/the-ascot Besides changing all the colors (felt, both ribbons, sweatband, liner all changed from default), I also altered...

What hat are you waiting for today?

Got my first hat from Agnoulita - a modified bowler, wider brim, slightly shorter crown. The brim came completely flat - a quick steam with the Jiffy and it was a piece of cake to get it the way you see below. Overall, very nicely made hat, I'm very happy with how this came out. Hat is silver...

Akubra Territory - any thoughts on it?

I was undecided, but looking at Hurricane Jack's attempt, I might now give it a go!

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Broke out the Lee Adventure today - sort of a beige/camel color. Super thin, lightweight, but still with a wonderful feel to the felt. It has a very fine texture. I'm not sure if all Lee Adventure hats are like this - but I'd love to get more in different colors.

Akubra Territory - any thoughts on it?

    > Good idea, then if you wear it in the rain it will fill up and become a bird bath. LOL. I could do the curl DOWNward facing... that'd be a first! My plan would be to do a front and back curvature. Something like this:

Akubra Territory - any thoughts on it?

I have a "sand" Territory that I bought around 2010, and have never worn. I've been pondering putting a pencil curl in it. Anyone have thoughts on this? Would I be committing hat blasphemy?

Bought a bowler yesterday on the 'bay (was it from one of you?)... The brand is Bullock & Jones, who as I'm sure many of you know is (was) an upscale mensware store. As such, I'm guessing they out-sourced the making of their house branded hats? Some photos from the auction below. So the...

    > It is terrible stuff. Indeed, re-constituted leather would explain it. We had a couch once made with that stuff, fell apart in a couple years, worse: flaking pieces of "leather" got everywhere. Never again. It might just be time to pull the bad liner and put in a nice new one... which...

I have a Gun Club "Royal Flush" as well, in black. Label says it was made in 2001. I've (obviously) replaced the studded black leather hat band. One thing I'm not happy about with the hat -- the sweatband started to disintegrate, leaving black marks on my head. I've now re-sealed the leather...

Belfast - can you post a link (or send a DM) with the exact 3M product you mention above? I googled "3M white non abrasive pad" and several different items came up.

Hmm.. now I'm confused... looking at the Jiffy website, the J-1 and J-2 *look* identical, except for the addition of casters (wheels)

Oh - never mind... you were comparing the J-1, not the J-2

Actually, Jiffy claims that rather the innerds are the same: https://jiffysteamers.com.au/products/garmet-steamers/j-2-j-2000-difference.html (copy/paste below) Differences between the J-2 and J-2000 Internally, both units are the same, which means that you will get the same...

    > In particular, any thoughts about the Jiffy model J-2000H ? I have one (beige model), and it works great - heats up and starts putting out steam in under a minute. The "new" water tank is super easy to fill in most sinks (which isn't true of the J1), and while it doesn't hold as much as the...
