Does a binding visually decrease the size of the brim?

It is indeed an HST. I love it as well :). That is a dark gray beaver Adventurebilt, it's about 2 1/2 years old. It's an outstanding hat. Depending on the light it's a pure charcoal, to almost a dark brown under incandescent. I don't baby it, and it has quite a bit of character to it now...

    Bogie borsalino

Metropod, I agree that the bash is now much better. I also agree that the hat seems to "ride" too high on your head. Do you have a side view that we might see? jeff

Does a binding visually decrease the size of the brim?

Years and years of practice :-). I've been using Photoshop since 1.0 in 1990. The above "transformation" took about 15 minutes - definitely a rush job and not my best work, but it gets the point accross, methinks. Best, jeff

    Brim cutter

Thanks Aaron, So is the type of tool that actual hatters use (as opposed to the goofy floor cutter that I posted :)). How does it work? Is there a round razor in there that rolls? Do you have to push down on the lever while cutting? thanks! jeff

    Brim cutter

fedoralover, thanks for the advice -- you've thoroughly scared me into NOT making my first foray into brim cutting on a good hat. Hmm.. would you believe that I don't have a beater? I guess ebay is calling my name again :) Thanks all, for your help! jeff

    Brim cutter

Art - thanks for the advice. That's exactly what I wanted to know - if it's makes Art nervous, the chance of me screwing it up is high. Indycop, personally I think your black fed looks great as is. I wouldn't cut it if I were you. jeff

I've been soaking up all this wonderful info from FL for about two years, but haven't had anything that I felt was of value to contribute. :) So today I was looking around for a brim cutter to reduce the...
