We LOOOOOOOOVE board games!!
We play board games in our house ALL the time! Board games and card games. I think that with all of today's technological advances, many parents are letting their children bypass the great family pastime of board games, in lieu of video games..... what a shame...
All Taken!
Ok Ladies, I guess that's it; all the hats have been spoken for! Thanks so
much for the interest.
I really think it keeps Mabel's memory and mission alive, when we wear/use
her things. I love knowing that something I'm carrying or wearing was hers!
I have some more hats...
Thanks!
Hello Ladies and thanks for your kind words.
I've received a couple of PMs about the hats and have PM'ed everyone back. The ones that are taken are marked TAKEN and obviously, the ones that aren't are still available.
I have some more hats that I'll put up, as soon as I dig them...
FREE Hats #2 Post
TAKEN: This first one is a navy blue straw hat, with a 'flower garden' on the crown
TAKEN:This pillbox style is purply/gray and pale pink on the sides, with a tan colored
rose at the top -the rose is velvet & silk. The hat is different and very neat...
Hello ladies!
I was/am cleaning out some of the boxes in the attic and came upon these hats, from my Grandmother-In-Law. I would like to offer them on here for FREE to anyone that is interested in them (you only have to pay for the Shipping).
You might have noticed my 'Mabel's Dress Shop'...
I'm with Waingirl (Hiya Neighbor!).
We got lots of snow from the nor'easter then from lake effect on top of that. Then practically every day since then it's snowed at least a few inches!
I spent an afternoon last week shoveling off our 3 levels of rooves, so we wouldn't have a cave in... I...
I know you guys are going to think I'm crazy but how about your local thrift stores and yard/garage sales?
I LOVE the 40s clothing but for household things, I am definitely a 50s gal! I've gotten TONS of stuff from the thrift stores around here and from going to garage sales.
I see older...
Well Baron, I guess that's that!
Except for this...
I got this info from the Vintage Fashion Guild site -http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/content/view/750/196/
Metal zippers were used in galoshes and elsewhere since 1905, not used in men's pants until 1927 or on women’s dresses until...
Oh geez... ya know I knew that!
SB -I thought that was Latin for Suchadoublae Breastedae? Oh gosh, now I'm spouting pig latin!
My old Botany professor would be proud :D
Wow John... you mean there are shoulder pads thicker than the 1" ones in that blue jacket? I can't even imagine!!
Baron,
neither the blue textured jacket or the brown one, both from the same company in New York, have a Union tag inside. I checked all the pockets, inside and out (and that...
PS: You know I have to live vicariously, by making my male family members wear these suits and jackets! It's such a joy to see men that actually enjoy wearing them, without all the arm twisting and cajoling!
I think this one is bespoke -
No tags and that dotted look stitching around the collar and lapels
Which overcoat is the 50s> The peaked lapel one (gray) of the Harris Tweed military collar one(brown)? I would have thought the gray one older because of the lapels and fly front.
I don't...
Marc is right..... but the same is true about vintage clothing here in the States! I know for a fact that one of the biggest thrift store chains here in central NY makes bales of its clothing that don't sell and sends them off to developing countries. I know that parts of Africa are huge...
Oldies!
OLDIES are #1 for me!
My father put himself through 10 years of college (he's a biochemest), by playing in a band. He sings and plays guitar and is actually very good; his band was even on a postcard for Laconia, New Hampshire in the early 60s.
When I was younger, my sister and I...
I'm 44 -although I thought I was 45 for a couple of months earlier this year and berated my Mother for not even knowing my age, until I figured out she was right and I was wrong!
We had the FIRST color television in my neighborhood! The Godfather was going to be on and my Father wanted to see...
Lapel Sizes
I'd like to clarify my question...
All of the suit jackets are from the 1940s (I believe). However, the lapel sizes are ALL different. (The linings of the first two have shoulder petal linings and full linings at the sides, while the last brown one has a 1/3 lining at the upper...
Military?
Really, a military collar? I had no idea. That is first collar that I've seen like that, even on overcoats. Is that a common look for vintage US coats or elsewhere? :eusa_doh:
Page 2 Lapels & Shoulder Pads
Lastly, these are two coats from the same era as the above jackets.
This one is a fly front wool, with something like mini-peaked lapels
And this one is an old Harris Tweed with a collar & lapel that looks to me almost like the opposite of a peaked lapel (the...
I have some question about the trend in lapels and shoulder pads.
I have a handful of suit jackets, all with varying lapels AND shoulder paddings that are all from the same era (at least I think they are). What was the trend in lapels and shoulder pads?
This jacket I know, now, to be from...
Here are mine two vitage bathing suits.
I got them from a thrift store a few years back. The navy and white one is wool. The blue one is obviously newer and of newer material but I just loved the color and style, so I got it anyway.\
The first time I wore the navy and white one to the...
