Hey Baron & Marc,
Do you remember helping me date that funky blue pinstriped suit, with the 8 buttons down the front (there's a picture of it on this thread, the page before this one)?
It sold on Ebay for $270! Who would have thought, huh? So thanks for the help getting the roof downpayment...
1960s?
Hi Baron! I haven't chatted with you in ages; those suits you helped me date a couple of months back did really well on Ebay and I was able to get a roof put on my house (not that the suits paid for the roof but at least I had a downpayment afterwords), so THANKS TONS!! :eusa_clap...
this Belted Back Suit: 1920s-30s-40s?
Wow Marc, those suits are awesome! I have to say, this is the first belt backed jacket that I have personally ever seen. Actually, there were two there but I only grabbed this one.
I was hoping that someone could help me figure out when this was made...
Duxbak of Utica coat
Hello! I LOVE these jackets! My grandfather and uncles always wore them to hunt in and they are incredibly warm.
I have a similar jacket, made by Duxbak of Utica -the tag says that it's "all wool rainproofed". It has the usual front 4 snap flap pockets, plus the two side...
1938-1946 suits
It seems like everytime I start to look up some specific information about vintage clothing I get side-tracked, sometimes for hours, while enjoying someone else's old family photos.
I especially loved the photo of the two men in blue suits, with a partial third man on the...
1920s-30s Pants' size
Ok, here goes...
The 1920s-30s pants have a waist measurement of 36", including the 2" gusset in the back. Even if you wanted to remove that, these could still have a 34" waist.

Plaid pants zipper...
Hi Baron,
Here's a photo of the Talon zipper, although not close-up. My camera doesn't do close-ups and my scanner bit the dust!

More info on suits AND old plaid pants photo...
Marc & Baron, thank you so much for taking the time to look over these items for me! I'll try to answer your questions about them...
The blue 8-button striped one has no boutonierre holes BUT it does have an old metal Talon zipper; it also has...
Vintage Suit Photos -need dates
Thanks for all the replies! I guess I should have been more specific.
I know a fair amount about old suits but mostly based on number of buttons, lapel style, union label, pant belt loop style, zippers type, etc... What I don't know is how to distinguish late...
Thanks for the Pockets!
Matt, thanks for the pocket information!!
What's the difference between the saddle and patch pockets? Is it the rounded versus the squared off corners?
I agree with the request for the fabrics information -could you include the different patterns of plaids...
Hello, I have been reading these posts for some time and have finally signed up for my own chance to chat with all of you! I'm so excited!!
I LOVE vintage clothing, especially men's suits. The problem I am having is this: I want to find a way to be sure of the age of a suit -ie. Dating a...
