    What Are You Reading

It is. I've read it a few times and it never fails to intrigue. It's the best of the Preston and Child 'Pendergast' series.

    Leather helmets as winter headwear

Knitted tuques or wool caps were more common in Canada. I don't think that sort of leather helmet was worn much at all.

    Ghost stories please..

Thirty years ago, I visited the Gettysburg battlefield for the first time. I arrived at night but I couldn't wait to have a look at the battlefield, so my wife and I drove around the site. Needless to say, we were the only car doing so. It was pitch black when we came to a stop sign in the...

    Dear Fedora Lounge,

Hats. It's all about the hats. There's a reason it's called "Fedora" Lounge!

What was the last TV show you watched?

I'll second that...a few months ago I found a DVD set of "Jack of All Trades". I'd almost forgotten about that series. What's left of the Blockbuster stores in Canada are closing their doors and selling off their stock. I managed get a great deal on the first season of "The Tudors" so I...

    Brim up or Brim Down

I tried the brim up look...I just looked like a goof. So, it's brim down for me. If I want a more casual look, I'll tilt the hat back a bit. I've seen other fellows wearing the brim up, though, and they look just fine.

    "Where there's tea, there's hope"

One of my most memorable cups of tea was on the lawn at the Royal Marines Museum in Eastney. It was served from a caravan by two lovely ladies and was accompanied by an absolutely delicious pie (bumbleberry, I think). My wife and I sat at a small table next to a R. M. Warrant Officer class 1...

    The Moustache

I've had a moustache since I was a teenager (a long, long time ago). Could've warned you about the harmonica thing! My initial solution was to start using Hohner Golden Melody harps...but I really didn't like the way they played so I just ended up trimming the stache a little shorter...and...

    Loungers' Pets

Time for my beast to join the lounge. Here's Mulder (named by my X-files fan of a son) rescued 12 years ago from the Humane Society. We should have called him 50% because they charged us 1/2 price due to his heart murmur. Murmur or not, he still going strong and is the most gentle cat I've...

I contstantly keep changing bashes on some of my hats...

I enjoy changing the crease on hats. I'm always amazed at how malleable the fur felt becomes but, like HatsEnough, I usually do this when I first obtain the hat and then I generally leave it alone.

Show us your Thrift and/or yard sale finds

Thanks! That's the Akubra I found a Goodwill this week...very comfy. Wore it out in the rain yesterday and it came through like a trooper. Nice hat. I've also found hats from Stetson, Dobbs and Bates of London at local Goodwills and Value Villages. My wife and I used to attend a lot of...
