Funniest thing I've seen recently is the rather wonderful remake of Fright Night. David Tennant's contemporary take on Peter Vincent is hilarious. Young Frankenstein is another favourite, as is Casablanca. Some truly hilarious lines in there, mostly from Claude Rains.

Mnn. I liked the books a lot, but I fond this film version disappointing. Some things were nicely done. Martin Freeman was an inspired casting as Arthur Dent. Unfortunately a lot else was pretty poor. I was especially disappointed with how badly they did Zaphod. The low-budget costume on the TV series with the non-moving third arm was a truer representation of the book.

I'm sure there are many folks in these parts who would be rather horrified by Borat, but I rather enjoyed it myself. His style of comedy relies on allowing other people to expose their own prejudices and ignorance. Sometimes that can be uncomfortable (see the frat boys on the road sequence). I very much admired his courage hen he sang the "Khazakstani National Anthem" to the tune of the US anthem at that rodeo. I don't believe there's a man alive with a greater degree of testicular fortitude than that.

I quite agree with you! I can't help but laugh at Ali G or Bruno either. I love satire, especially when its so accurate.

The Male Animal (1942) makes me howl with laughter every time I see it, especially the scene when Henry Fonda drunkenly tries to fight Jack Carson in his garden lol

These people obviously don't understand screwball comedies! I love them, myself.

I liked Bringing Up Baby, but I wasn't crazy about the ending. She spends all this time creating havoc and pursuing him, and all of a sudden, he realizes he loves her. A little more build up might have helped lol

Yeah, why is that... but it's listed as one of the top comedies of all time...

It's not that "most" people hate Bringing Up Baby, so much as those of us who don't care for it tend to be quite vocal about it! (Because it's got such a reputation as THE screwball comedy that we feel we have to speak out!)

As I've stated here many times before, I love screwball comedies in general... but Bringing Up Baby simply doesn't work for me. It's too strident and hyper - I find it exhausting and overdone.

However, Hepburn and Grant's other thirties flick - Holiday - is one my favorites!
