It does get annoying. Don't let it discourage you from wearing your hats though. I've learned, over the years, to identify it as a type of compliment and treat it as such.

Thanks for the input, guys. I really am liking this hat. I think maybe I'll just buckle down and deal wirth the 3 inch brim...after wearing a 3 in. crushable outbackm I might not look that bad in it.

Well, I've been prying into this hat for a while after seeing the "Travelling Hat" threads, and I think this particular lid has alot of potential.
From what I can gather, it's got a wide snap brim, and a tall, untapered crown. A good choice for the 1930's stereotype hat, methinks.

Alright, I'm not usually someone that changes their clothing becuase of temperature.
Every summer for the past ten years I have worn some sort of heavy felt hat and enjoyed every moment of it.

I had my 6 3/4 Stet stretched up to a 7 1/8 by them. The sweatband rippled a little bit on the sides, but otherwise there was nothing.
They used a heated expanding block (very professionally, might I add).
Another thing you might want to consider, if you find your Akubra to be 'scratchy' -
I sanded the felt on my Federation with fine grit sandpaper. I originally had heard of this being done on COW; I tried it myself and am quite pleased with the results.
