I did that, but the only problem are these folds that are all over the front bust und since they are doubled were hard to iron. They shrunk shorter so that you can see the seams where they are attached instead of them overlapping each other. Also, the arms got tight, but other than that it fits...
Thanks ladies! I recently shrunk a rayon crepe dress by handwashing in cold, because I'd washed others before that were fine, so am a bit nervous. But I'll google the burn test and see what happens. Learning lots on here every day:)
Only two pairs and not those red ones, but maybe they'd know more?

To be honest I was wondering that and emailed the sellerbefore I bought it. She said it was definitely 30's and it looks older than 60's or 70's, but could be 40's I guess. I'm not too good at dating yet though. The print definitely looks 30's.
I emailed her today about cleaning it and she said...
Thank you! I don't mind the yellowing, I actually like it. It's a floral print and the background looks a bit creamy-yellowish but it goes well with the print.
Stupid question, but what is the burn test, and how do I know it is nylon form doing the test?
Well, half my family is from Turkey, and the women there sugar regularly and it's done at salons as well as at home by friends or family. They have been doing it for generations, my grandmother and her mother did, so waxing and hair removal is certainly not a modern idea. And yes, they do the...
I have just done a search and couldn't find anything, so excuse me if this is a repeat question.
I just bought a beautiful 30's floral dress that was sold to me as a nylon dress and certainly feels like it, the stretchy kind. It also has a yellow background, which could be on purpose, but looks...
I am so depressed that Maybelline discontinued Full'n Soft Mascara. It was the only waterproof that made my lashes look great, didn't clump and didn't uncurl them after application. I have been on the hunt for a replacement ever since but nothing comes close.
I'm not pale, so I haven't tried it, but Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud launched a make-up range for pale gals called "Dainty Dolls". Apparently it's available at Asos.
I just saw this picture in the Beer Ad thread and now am desperate to make a dress like this! I don't know how to draft or alter patterns, so does anyone know a pattern like this and could let me know the details? I know it's a pretty simple pattern.
I think that actually isn't so different from my experiences in school in the 90s. I was really into the 60s and 70s then, and got laughed at quite a lot for wearing bell bottoms and hippie things, not just by the older generation, but especially by people my age. My parents and aunts and uncles...
I will try to make it to the exhibition, but it won't be for a while. Is it free like so many of the museums in London?
Today I asked my MIL about Horrockses, and she had never heard of them nor had she any clue what I was talking about in general, bless her.:D I guess she was only a child back...
Just read an article about a new designer named Lena Hoschek, whose designs are definitely 50's inspired and some are really cute. If you google her you can see some of her catwalk shows.
