Oh lord, I have two...neither of which are anywhere nr my size! They both belong to my mother, and she was wearing the cream shift until at least last year...the other is a sun dress with Bolero which we have agreed to sell and split any profit!

Wasn't aware of the exhibition, I wonder what label is The Next Big Thing..

I will try to make it to the exhibition, but it won't be for a while. Is it free like so many of the museums in London?
Today I asked my MIL about Horrockses, and she had never heard of them nor had she any clue what I was talking about in general, bless her.:D I guess she was only a child back then.

The entrance fee is £6.50 but it's on until 24th October so you've got plenty of time yet.

I'm going to see my parents this weekend so I'll ask my mum if she remembers.

My Grandma loves Horrockses.

She had one as a young girl, a blue and white stripy one. It cost a lot of money and I think it was a birthday present from her father. Her teacher used to wear them and she loved them so much that all she wanted for her birthday was a Horrockses dress. Unfortunately she didn't keep it. I'll ask her more about it when I next see her.

She was very excited a few weeks ago because her Saga magazine arrived and had a whole article about Horrockses. I still have the magazine so I'll scan it in and post it here.

Right ladies, own up! Who bought the pink floral stripe Horrockses frock I was about to bid on?!
Yes, I wanna know, too! Seller isn't very good with replying to emails or providing measurements though.

That is such a shame. I was hoping it would have gone to someone who treasures and wears it.

Me too. Now the person who would treasure and wear it (ie, me!) would have to fork out an extra £75 for the privilege :(

I understand any vintage seller is perfectly entitled to buy off ebay and resell, but it upsets me that they do, because it makes buying nice vintage for people like me much more difficult.

Also, 140 QUID for a damaged dress?! What??

I have some lovely colour plates of 30s Horrockses prints if anyone would like me to scan them in?

Does anyone know if a brand called 'Double Two' was made by Horrockses? My mother has a lot of this label and they are very similar in cut and quality.

Kitty I would absolutely LOVE to see those colour plates. I might also ask to steal them for my magazine article too, if that isn't too cheeky (and your mother would get a credit, obviously).
