Standing in front of the Bullet Train in my brand-new, Bluegrass Green Stylemaster. This color has become my go-to for what I think is a sharp-looking contrast to the grays and blacks that I normally wear. I curled up the sides a bit to give it a crossover look of a derby and a fedora. Not sure if I'll keep it like that, but I have a small head and it seems to work. I love both the color and the hat. While wearing all of my hats makes me happy, this color especially seems to pack something more.

I think I read somewhere that the unlined version of a particular hat is for domestic distribution, and the lined version is for export.

I think I read that as well. Not sure how true it is

I think I read that, too. But the Akubra domestic site seems to have the ones with a liner. OK, interesting, The Hattery has lined ones in Regency Fawn and unlined ones in Carbon Grey.

I have an unlined Akubra safari with a standard size tag that I bought at a junk store in the US, so I'm not sure I buy into this. Anybody got a link to such info?

So that Squatter has no lining. Interesting. The ones on the Akubra website these days seems to have a liner. I guess one could always remove a liner.

The Featherweights , if you can fined them, have no liner.

There is an older version and a newer version of the squatter, although this is first time I saw one with the "featherweight" designation. The older versions I have seen are all unlined and made in the superfine fur, which in my opinion is better than the imperial. I can't remember when exactly I first saw the imperial fur squatters on offer, but it's only been a few years and they have all been lined.

Honestly, I believe Akubra just rebooted the line. I remember seeing the unlined Superfine version on offer as a special order (six month wait or some such) from Everything Australian (I believe, but it looks like they have revamped their website and I don't recognize it anymore).
