ditto with Henri-Henri. Haven't been there but I picked up a cap made by them recently and it's excellent. Their website has a 360 degree panorama of their shop...looks interesting.
Gotta love those thrift stores! Found my second cap today...a lovely 6 panel newsboy by Henri-Henri of Montreal.
I'm much happier about the find that the second photo would imply. Just not too keen on the haircut!
I don't know the maker but they have a store in Montreal and an...
My favourite line from that one.... Tuco's in the bath and the one-armed guy comes in to kill him, giving him a lengthy speech. So Tuco shoots him and says: "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk"
And well worth inhaling! Love asparagus sauted, as well.
Tonight was tenderloin steak with mashed potatoes, mushrooms as well as sauted green peppers and onions. Now I really need my evening walk.
I'm a measly 6'1" with long arms. I've pretty well given up on anything 'vintage' except hats and scarves. With a size 7 3/8 XLO, hats can be a challenge too.
Thanks Tonyb. I find that thrift store shopping is all about perseverance. Sooner or later, you'll find a mixer for the price you're willing to pay. The fun is in the hunt...with the occasional 'find', of course, to keep you going!
Good luck at the Sally Ann today. We found a Hamilton Beach model G mixer with a Canadian patent date of 1938 in great shape. Coincidently, we had found the two white Pyrex mixing bowls for this blender yesterday in a totally different place! Now I've got two sets of bowls, plus the mixer...
If you mean the version in which Alec Guinness did an absolutely fantastic job portraying George Smiley, I couldn't agree more. One of the finest performances I've ever seen on TV...thanks for reminding me, David!
There's nothing wrong with paperbacks...I prefer their smaller size. However, they are produced with cheaper paper and much less durable bindings than hardcovers. As I said in my other post, if I find that I re-read a particular book (and I do that a lot), I'll seek out a hardcover version...
Used to use them when I worked in the proof room at the Globe and Mail in the early '70's. We'd send the corrected proofs through them.
Costco still uses a pneumatic system up here to allow cashiers to divest themselves of their excess cash.
