Maybe This Thread Could Be A Sticky...
Here's my question: Where does one go about getting a hat stretcher?? I just got a vintage hat in 7 1/4 - that's my size, but it's a tight 7 1/4 and needs just a bit of stretching. Thanks for anticipated help.
Stetson Royal Deluxe
This is a Stetson Royal Deluxe in sage green with a very dark green ribbon. There is no model stamped on the sweat or noted on the lining, but the dimensions and edge binding are quite evocative of a Whippet. Pics are not great in terms of the actual color. I've had this...
Bob has 6 Whippets?!?!? I recall him outbidding me on a green Borso that ended up needing a new sweatband, so I believe we're the same size...(nudge/wink!)
In case you run out of kennel space, Bob, I'd be happy to help out. ;)
Another possible source for berets, depending on your needs. I didn't read the whole post from beginning, so maybe this was already mentioned.

I have had the Bakarra, which I purchased from them, for many years. Leather sweat (it's that patent...
Garrett, I'm sure I'm not alone in this - I would love to see that Penn-Craft when you put a crease in it. Even without a crease you can see that reverse taper at the back. What a nice hat!
Well you have your work cut out for you, trying to keep this rowdy bunch under control! I guess that's why, with huge responsibility comes huge pay. Drinks on RBH!!

Anybody here get a new, fast, sleek dog?
Sir Dobbs, I am behind you nearly 100%!! I believe it is mandatory to have a variable temperature kettle so one can more readily get the right temp for whites/greens/oolongs vs. congou/black teas.
As you pointed out, brewing time is important - it's easy to produce a bitter cup of green...
I saw that auction with about an hour to go and I think it was at around $35!! Looks as though you sniped well, and hopefully you'll post pics when you get it. That is definitely an interesting hat.
Yes, I do have one. It's my go to hat for any more strenuous outdoor activity - yard work, hiking, etc. I got mine at Aussie Bush Hats and have been pleased with it. If you like the looks you can't go wrong.
Astro, you wear that one really well. With the lack of larger vintage sizes available on eBay and elsewhere I'd say you've hit one out of the park with the MD1!!! :eusa_clap
Dreispitz, JtL, Mario - all standouts today. I've got to give the nod to Douglas for the Douglas/Big Al style brim treatment...and what an interesting color on that hat. It seems to work well!
I have to say Scott F's Vitafelt is quite interesting. I didn't pick up on the homburg cues but Garrett obviously did. It must be that fine line of stitching seen on the top of the brim, and the overall look. Based on Garrett's knowledge I was ready to concede "homburg" and then Jimmy came in...
I haven't posted for a while, but thought I'd weigh in on the topic...
Dinerman, I like the non-snapped down brim on that one. It looks like a great seasonal hat.
Sorry Storman, no help on that one from me, and another question:
I picked up a Lee Adventure (Christmas present) and wanted to know if there is a Lee-centric thread. Any pointers would be appreciated! Also, I've been away from the Lounge for a while so hello and Happy Holidays, Loungers!
I read through the links Lefty posted. To summarize, posters seemed to believe bison or buffalo fur makes for dense, rough, unfinished felt. I would add, most of those comments were hearsay, and not made by anyone owning a buffalo felt hat.
As an owner, I would agree the felt is thick. The...
