A Christmas Story director killed by drunk driver

Just came in to post this myself. Very sad news. His other Christmas film, Black Christmas, was just remade right here in Canada where Christmas Story was (mostly) shot. I always hoped he'd make another film.

    the male silhouette 1922 -1941

Yes, very slim right now, but photos can't exagerate the effect the way these drawings do. This comes from the later teens I think:

Can anyone recommend a good dvd version of this great movie. The Hollywood Classics cheapie version I have stinks. Cheers.

    the male silhouette 1922 -1941

lol I was going to sum it up as "Kermit the frog-bodied bubble heads", but I thought that would be anachronistic. Lyendecker's Arrow Collar man is probably one of the first images that come to mind for men's apparel imagery of the 20s, and the AC man is as square jawed and...

I Think I Found My Next Project

And it only cost 25 cents!!! I remember ordering a hovercraft from a comic book when I was 7 or 8 and expecting to be able to toot around the nabe in it. Boy was I disappointed.

    the male silhouette 1922 -1941

In 20 years the representation of men in apparel industry images went from Peter-Pan pixie-armed waifs with childishly large heads to burly he-men with shoulders as inflated as Macy's parade floats. See the images below from 1922 and (Style Hits of...) 1941 respectively: So, was the...

    Novels and Movies

Yeah. The same kind of thing for Wuthering Heights. It sounds like it should work with teh cast they have and the director, but it all comes out so clean and prettified and twee that it is a really disappointing treatment of the book. I don't know if Wuthering Heights has ever been done well, at...

    Smoke-easies

Everybody here seems civil; the discussion is in no way out of hand. In the past the discourse was reduced to slanging matches and insults which are not political, just childish.

    NERD ALERT!!

So-so for me. I like actors who can act, so the return of all the actors who cannot act didin't excite me. It was also just a little too Twilight Zone for me, and a little contrived. Artz and his bugs have never figured in the story until it was convenient to bring in a medusa spider. I guess I...
