scotrace,
Let us know how you like the others as well. My favourite Hammett novel is the Glass Key with Maltese Falcon a very close second (and sometimes first, dependingon how recently I've read it).
The real problem with Out of the Past was that it needed some of that Phil Collins, special-kinda pop. I can feel it coming in the air toniiight. Hold o-ohn.
;)
Put them aside until you're flush enough to send them off to AE or to take them to a shoe repair artiste. There is no fix for a hole in a sole except resoling them. I know this because I have frequently had shoes with holes and have frequently had no money to fix them. I tried everything from...
I read news online, but I still prefer the newspaper. When I can crumple up a lap top (or a Sony Reader) and stick it in my coat pocket to read at the park while my son is playing, or on the subway while I'm commuting, or at the diner while I'm eating hash browns... etc. etc., I'll give up on...
Matt's right. The spread is significantly wider than the shirt in the film. It looks like you prefer a broader knot (and a later vintage of tie) than Jake does, so it all works out. It is a really good looking shirt, though. Has anybody bought a Marlowe from Indy?
Agree. Agree. Agree.

Rob Zombie's trailer is the best thing about this Grindhouse.
A side note: as a...
For me the Federation is just too much hat. The big round fireplug crown is wider than my face and the brim is very much too much bordering on cowboy hat, as you say.
Go ahead and cut the brim down. I cut mine and I wound up almost liking my Federations.
Rockford Files was essentially a "modern take" on a Marlowe type character, and I liked that well enough.
For me it's a question of whether I want to see Phillip Marlowe talking on a cell phone and doing most of his research on a computer. I don't. Modern technology makes the real life job...
A side note for those interested in how the first Disney feature came about. The Frank Capra collection fetures a lesser none Capra classic called American Madness. In the interview FC Jr - an extra - he talks about the origin for the idea of the film. A longish story that I won't recount here...
