I'm not sure how this photo makes me look so fat, seeing as I stand 5'8" and weigh 143 pounds, but anyway . . . here's a view of Magnoli's great Gittes shirt. Indy's great to deal with and the quality of his product is A1.

(Apologies for the facila fuzz, it looks cool on Baron Kurtz but NOT on Benny Holiday! lol )

That fabric looks pretty frickin' sweet.* Is it available as one of the regular shirtings or did it cost extra? Some more detail on it would be great, if you could show it. I've been looking around for a good Bengal-stripe-ish shirt for some time.

Thanks guys. Indy is great. I refined the fit of the shirt slightly around the chest before ordering another couple from him, and nothing was a hassle for him.

Jovan, I'm pleased that I kept the original e-mail Indy sent me about swatches for the shirt. The striped patterns are not standard and cost a little extra (US$15). This is the swatch picture Indy sent me for the blue stripe:

Indy also sent me a picture of a brown stripe fabric:

You can't see it in the photos, but I had my Gittes ordered with French cuffs. And the collar . . . man, you just can't get a collar like that anywhere in Sydney these days, especially not with French cuffs.

The collar looks long enough, though the spread looks like more than the one shown on the web page.

It's a cool shirt, very unique with it's pocket... Though I do think the collar is not quite what is advertised. Should be more accute.

Matt's right. The spread is significantly wider than the shirt in the film. It looks like you prefer a broader knot (and a later vintage of tie) than Jake does, so it all works out. It is a really good looking shirt, though. Has anybody bought a Marlowe from Indy?

:eusa_clap I got 4 shirts made at Sam's Tailor in Hong Kong this weekend. One of them was made with first blue stripe :) I guess I couldn't have gone wrong. I had it made with the infamous Portofino cuff, so I may have to post pictures with it later....sorry to mooch on your thread haha
Great looking shirt- kudos to Magnoli.

In one thread, they said it would be hell to keep it neat looking, not have it catch on the jacket sleeve, etc. I suppose that could be solved with REALLY tight armholes, but I like my comfort.

I was disappointed Bond didn't wear them in Casino Royale, given Turnbull & Asser have returned as his shirtmaker. Though I suppose there's no real action with him in a suit besides the suspiciously well tailored dinner jacket Vesper gave him.

I had problems with it catching when the sleeves were all the way down, but the suit has shortish sleeves, so I used a shirt garter to hold it up and didn't have any issues the whole night.

I've always been partial to shirts with nice long collar points - I think they look great, and this shirt is something I will be ordering from Indy. Thanks for the pics!:eusa_clap

I really like the look of this one. What kind of cloth is it?

That WAS a 3-ply 100% cotton, but we just ran out. I may be able to source some more, but I have a feeling it's gone. I've still got some of the fabric I used on my Marlowe shirt:

It has a nice texture to it with white on natural stripes.

Kind regards,
Indy
