ok, so i need some suggestions. what i'm asking for may not be in existence though!
i am looking for some sort of physical activity to tone my arms and abdomen, while not taking much energy from my legs. i bike a lot and walk constantly, so my legs and feet are usually too tired to do much...
hmmm. it all depends for me. i think more importantly than real or fake model, i would like to see dresses that are my size (i'm a modern-day 12 or 14) modeled on bodies that are at least within a couple sizes as mine! on thinner models i know the dress is not looking at all like it will on me...
i've been thinking about doing this as well... i used to be an obsessive arm-shaver. i've gotten myself out of the habit but my arm hair is crazy enough to need at-least occasional management and waxing is def better than shaving in that regard!
goldleaf, i see a ton of cute gingham tops in the maternity section at the thriftstore i work in - very vintage-y! we actually get some really nice stuff in, since it wasn't worn for very long. i know some baby resale shops carry maternity wear too!
and i love your hiking pic - i always look...
my dad hitchhiked in the 60s and ended up in a bodycast due to a car accident. [huh] how many times did i hear that story growing up! i haven't hitchhiked or picked up people on the road, but i have met some interesting folks and shared gas expenses by finding passengers on craigslist!
so what is "one degree"? someone you know, or someone that you know knows?
depending, i am one or two degrees from gwen stefani. my next door neighbor/childhood babysitter was best friends with her in high school.
i'm also two or three degrees away from writer michelle tea, by more...
the last time i wore white hose was for a "madeline" costume at the bookstore i worked at. i have been holding onto those suckers for SIX years now and have yet to find another use for them! lol
come to think of it, i haven't seen vintage pics of non-nurse women wearing white stockings ever...
hep, cute dress!
and i hear ya on the waist worries... by modern AND vintage standards mine is too big for my bust and hips, so it eliminates a lot of dress possibilities for me, too!
missbrill, i agree with you wholeheartedly.
and when i die... people can wear whatever they damn please! i'd feel more disrespected by people silently judging each other at my funeral, than by someone wearing jeans.
i think they look pretty good on some guys! guess tastes differ. [huh] anyway, i'm sure a lot of people said the same thing when women started wearing pants...
i'm no expert on this stuff, but i know Deanna Durbin wears something with those arrows in "That Certain Age", which came out around 1938! i know because i've watched it a million times, just for the clothes!
i agree - arrows are such a cute detail.
here's another cat in a sink!
Octavian, my housemate's cat. i woke him up on my way to the shower this morning! he *loves* the sink and will try to get in it even when the water is running.
here he is, enjoying my hey-wake bedside table. you can kinda tell he has enormous paws. eight...
one time i was spotted at the derby (ironically, the same day that i modeled in a vintage fashion show!) by some gals from a salon and they recruited me and my then-boyfriend to dance/model in a hair show. had i not been dressed vintage, they probably would have asked someone else, since they...
