congratulations!
as i mentioned elsewhere yesterday, i just joined a collectively-run vintage store here in portland. it's going to be a great way to pare down my collection and make some extra cash. we're mostly selling retro and funky stuff aimed at bar go'ers in the area, but i am putting...
if you enjoy sewing as an act of creating though, the time doesn't really factor in. the fabric for my last vintage dress cost me about $19 (vintage repro, got it on sale). i'll be using vintage notions i got for cheap ages ago. the dress will fit me perfectly, which would rarely happen for a...
yup, me too sally! i will buy pretty much anything if it's under $5. those usually end up being my favorite items. i tend to get a little embarrassed of the few things i've spent over $50 on.
as for the make vs. buy question... i'm lazy/busy so i don't get much sewing done. in theory, i love...
i'm sooooo excited.
here is my newest piece of furniture, courtesy of the thrift store.
not the best picture... it's dark wood, and the interior on the glass side is amazing! the bottom is mirrored, and the back is quilted satin.
anyone have a guess as to the year of production...
hmmm, i'm not sure this was the first... Junior Prom came out in 1946! didn't have big stars like CG, ML and ST in it though. i'm not sure that was the first one either, it's just a movie i own that's an earlier year than Bachelor!! there are others that display the popular teen culture post-war...
edward,
your last post pretty much rules. :eusa_clap i'm a huge fan of gender fluidity myself. i'm not sure why people feel the need to police others' gender and sexual expression so much. that's all i have time to say on the subject right now, i have to leave for work!
bella, don't forget to give me a call while you're here, so we can get together for a drink or something!!
glue gun geisha, i might be out of town while you're in portland, but if not we should try to meet up as well :)
as for me, i'm cobbling together a couple mini-vacations over the...
that's too bad! there are actually 3 of them in city limits, and more out in the suburbs! my ex has worked there for 3 years, so i think i've probably tried every product in the store that's vegetarian...
kitty,
trader joe's is an excellent place to get decent-quality, cheap EVOO (their store brand is fine) and jojoba oil.
and jenautica is right, the supplies will last a long time!
this may be blasphemy, but i HATE the search option on the board. i find searching for stuff on this site on the google advanced search page to be much easier.
it turns on, but i got rid of my records when i moved a couple years ago, since i didn't have a record player. so i haven't actually gotten around to seeing if it plays properly.
everyone's getting such cool stuff! i'm esp coveting that girl scout top.
as we all know, i can't stay out of the thrifts. i spent $41 at the goodwill bins alone, and that was getting down to the $.69 a pound level! fortunately most of the stuff is for resale - i'm getting a spot in...
