I'll be transferring to university shortly after Christmas, so that leaves me with about half a month. I own two backpacks, one is a bright maroon colored backpack, and the other is a dark blue one with a leather bottom. Both of these are typical Jansports. I'd like to have an alternative to...
I had just seen Elevator to the Gallows (1957). It's a great film noir, I thought. The plot was intense and engaging. They were murderers, but you felt sort of sympathetic towards their escape. The soundtrack by Miles Davis made it especially worth seeing, and I even bought it before seeing the...
Since the last picture up in the post I'm quoting wasn't any good, here's the best representation of how my suit jacket actually fits (the one picture where I'm standing at a lopsided angle doesn't do it justice). Excuse the jeans, and I'm standing a little bit crooked here too, but this is...
Just wanted to comment on the "wet/dry look" matter. It seems that as early as 1962, some male actors were already using hairspray. Roger Moore apparently used hairspray (as opposed to Brylcreem) while playing Simon Templar "The Saint" in the popular '60s TV series.
See Question 3...
Has anybody run across this poster somewhere online before? Is there a way to see the whole poster? I think up top it has "early years" and that makes me think this isn't showing the whole picture. It'd be interesting to see that, as well as the stuff from after 1966.
I just finished watching Season 2's second episode, Flight 1. It was a good one too.
However, I heard somewhere that the stuff they use for the men's hair on that show is all modern gel, and not period. Was it ever explained why they didn't just go with the standard products of the '60s like...
Same here, I've also got a Dillinger cut (Johnny Depp's role though). I style it either slick or more dry with pomade, so it's versatile for both styles.
When did men start to use hairspray though? Was it around 1970 or earlier than that?
Nice pics everyone.
I wore my suit (Land's End year rounder, tailored fit jacket, regular pants) in public for the first time. Church, and then lunch afterwards. It wasn't uncomfortable feeling, and I wanted to get used to wearing one for a while. I'm normally a bit more casual in church...
I just use a washing machine and dryer. On the wash, I use the "heavy" setting, and the same for the dryer. My cotton shirts when I buy them new (I have no vintage shirts) are always a little bit looser than when I wash and dry them a couple of times.
Right, for some reason I've always found that to be less off-putting. I say this as someone who's religious (by principle I am opposed to violence as well as the previously mentioned details), yet generally speaking, I must have been desensitized to the "shock value" of violence long ago...
^ Thank you. The odd thing about the length of my hair now, since the last half of a year, is that it's so long down the front, yet it makes doing a pompadour more difficult than it used to be. I would have to apply a lot of grease and wax in my hair for it to hold into that style for the whole day.
OK thanks. I had a feeling it would be more, but I wanted know how much more. Not all of us are into things that graphic. I prefer the way Mad Men's set up, with less language and implied rather than physically seen nudity/sex.
I wanted to ask because I might be interested in seeing this show, but are the strong language and sexual stuff on a comparable level to Mad Men, or far more graphic? Actually, the last HBO show I tried watching was Rome. I was on board with it because of my interest in ancient Roman history...
Thanks. It's been nearly a year since I've gradually worked my way to growing the front and top longer, although now I'm at a point where I might want to maintain the length rather than let it grow down any further. The longest strands come down directly above the mouth.
On another note, I...
OK, here are a few examples of my recent cut, taken six days later:
A little bit windswept from working outside:
