    Excessive posting? ... Interesting.....

I'm not one for very excessive posting here, but I have to admit, I've probably posted more today than I have within the last month. Mostly inquires on jackets, and a couple on hats.

    "It isn't a @*$%> cowboy hat"

I'd like to think of mine as one. It's the modern Stetson Open Road with the pre-creased Cattleman thing going, so it definitely looks the part, if with a slightly narrower brim. I think these hats look decidedly less cowboy without it anyway, although still country/western in styling.

Aero Jacket Question (Also, are there quality jackets under 300 dollars?)

I will just say that I'm still leaning towards the D-1 style of shearling jacket, from what I've gathered, it's lighter (and less warm) than the B-3 and the B-6 jackets. However, it's still warmer than a G-1 is supposed to be, right? Mine isn't Aero, but I can still feel chilly wearing one, even...

Aero Jacket Question (Also, are there quality jackets under 300 dollars?)

Yes, actually I changed the thread title to better reflect my economic preference here. Thank you for the suggestions everyone, those really do look like quality jackets, though many are well out of my price range. I may not even go with Aero for now, but the help was appreciated.

Aero Jacket Question (Also, are there quality jackets under 300 dollars?)

Maybe I missed something, but who is John, what's his website?

Is it a bad idea to wear a double-breasted suit coat as a sport coat?

Let's say I'm aware of one particular 1940s (supposedly) dated suit jacket. It is double-breasted, medium grey, and has white pinstripes. It would, most importantly, fit me if I bought it. There is no guarantee that I will buy it, however. Would it be a bad idea, as in against certain sartorial...

I Like This Hat, But How Do You Just Start Wearing a Hat...

I think the Akubra Angler's a nice type of hat. For most people, I think they'll either see it as either an Australian or cowboy hat of some kind, but that's not a bad thing. In my opinion, that Angler is a true outdoorsman's hat. You could get away with wearing it around town too.

Aero Jacket Question (Also, are there quality jackets under 300 dollars?)

Thank you for that input, Jeff. There's no guarantee I'm going with Aero, I was looking at Gibson & Barnes and some other sites, but Aero here on the Fedora Lounge is considered one of the very best. They are however, prohibitively expensive. Converting the prices to U.S. currency, it's over...

    Film Noir?

That was a good movie, yet I've heard that it's more prone to criticism than other Bogart films. I watched it on the Turner Classic Movies channel almost two years ago. Around the same time, I also watched The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, my favorite Bogart film, and I've even went and bought...

Aero Jacket Question (Also, are there quality jackets under 300 dollars?)

Having experience only with a G-1 replica jacket by Sporty's Pilot Shop bought nearly a year and a half ago, I'm thinking about Aero. What are some things I should know about them, or about ordering from them, before I do so? Is there a specific ordering procedure that I must be aware of before...

Melbourne declared vintage capital of Australia, Possibly World, says article

I'd guess either New York, or maybe Los Angeles, but I'm not sure either.

What hat do you wear most (and why)?

I would imagine that looks almost exactly like my own most frequently worn hat, except mine's a vintage Stetson St. Regis homburg, and I trimmed it into a fedora with a slightly shorter brim than your's (I think mine is 2 1/8 around). Otherwise, the color and ribbon are about the same as your's...

    What are you wearing today??

Today, I had a chance to try on my new Land's End suit, it being my first 100% wool suit. It probably isn't much in the way of quality (it is "super 90s wool," and I like it more than the common "super 120s to 140s" options I saw at stores), but I wanted something affordable, and I happen to buy...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I had just finished watching Il Deserto dei Tartari, or The Desert of the Tartars. It stars Jaques Perrin, Giuliano Gemma, and Max Von Sydow, among others, and the acting was very well done here, accompanied by Ennio Morricone's excellent soundtrack. I thought this was an interesting film. It...

The devolution of our society through fashion in just two pictures.

Perfect, that's too true... The sagging pants phenomenon is alive and well, still going on around L.A. at least. At my community college, I even saw some of the more extreme versions of it being done, although never as bad as that picture. Can that guy be fined in L.A. for wearing his pants like...

    Movember Mo - who's in?

I might give it a try, again. I did this last year, and I ended up not shaving until nearly three months before I gave into pressure to shave it all off. It was itchy, and my facial hair is thin and light. Does just growing long sideburns count? I've been sporting these up till my last haircut...

    I love the Fed IV!!

To get your brim cut so precisely, did you happen to be using a measuring tape or a ruler as well? Also, you said that's a new ribbon, what is the width of that? You actually look like you've done a slightly better job than I had done on my vintage Stetson, which is why I'm asking. I've only...

What do our hats really say about us, and more importantly, are they right?

As far as the statement thing, it's a yes and no sort of issue. There are days that I deliberately feel that a particular hat will make some sort of statement, and that's fine with me. I wouldn't mind for my hats to imply in some way that I'm a gangster/noir and western film/TV fan, or for the...

Film/television speech patterns from the 1920s to 1960s

Having watched many films and some television shows (these mostly from the '50s and '60s), I have noticed that almost unanimously, the actors and actresses involved tended to speak in a way that is different from the way their modern counterparts would go about it. I would use the term accent...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Wore my favorite one today, a vintage St. Regis homburg by Stetson, that I had trimmed the brim to wear it as a fedora.
