Modern Stetson Open Road:
I had just come back from a strenuous hike in the hills. I'm still trying to shrink the leather sweatband to fit more. Having owned this since spring, the brim has gotten to be a bit softer, but not "flop in the wind" soft. I usually wear my brim curled up on the...
Hmm, fresco... could you explain that? I've never heard of that particular fabric. Is it natural, or synthetic? Also, are some polyester/viscose suits of "good" quality? Somebody tried to talk me into purchasing a viscose suit that did fit me really well, but I was turned off by the synthetic...
I live in southern California, not very far from L.A. Obviously, this area is prone to heat waves during the summer, or even early fall/late spring. I was initially considering purchasing a flannel wool suit, but someone at a shop I went to told me that fabric wasn't common in this state, as in...
It's been a long time since I posted. This is what I wore during an hour walk outside of the neighborhood, by the hills:
Modern Stetson Open Road, and I'm not sure about the glasses going much with the hat, but I've got to live with them. They're now daily-wear. Good thing they look like...
My favorite hat has what might be the "regular rake:"
A little up in the front, and down in the back. I think that's what I like most, and this is a teardrop crease.
EDIT: Here's my Federation IV, it's almost the same, but higher crowned and has a turned in front with the middle part...
Thank you!
Hmm, reading pages 26 and 27, I'm actually agreeing a bit with their philosophy for young men (about my age group, from late teens, to early or mid 20s) wearing lower crowned hats. I think in general, lower crowned hats can suit more features. Higher crowns strike as something an...
Here's a 1948 photograph of eden ahbez (intentional lowercasing) and the Nature Boys. He's at front towards the left.
I'm not entirely sure about whether he affiliated himself with that later movement, but he might have been an early hippie, or a beatnik.
I would say that one leans on the somewhat unconservative side of interview worthy suits, with the pinstripes and slightly narrower than typical lapels (but this is a fashionable look, after all). It also seems to be black, not necessarily charcoal. If you would like to get it, that's probably...
Sex scenes... I don't particularly care for those, outside of James Bond movies (and those aren't very revealing). I saw this movie with my siblings and Dad three years ago, and that was an awkward moment.
As for my next haircut (or should this be in the haircut thread?), I think I'll end up...
I think I've seen a couple of other topics like this one come up, before. I still disagree with the topic, the notion that one can be reincarnated and have memories of a past life, but while we're talking about spirituality, I am religious (Protestant Christian). I'm mainly drawn here because of...
I've bought lots of stuff over the past couple of years from Land's End. I would say they're good quality for the price, and they sell clothes that actually fit me. I think that they're currently my overall favorite.
Am I the only one who's never actually steamed a hat before? What I always did, and this may not have been ideal, was apply some cold, shower water onto the hat to the point that it's relatively soaked. I did this with my Akubra Federation and my vintage Stetson hats, and the results were fine...
I traveled by flight only once having a hat. Two years ago, it was a crushable wool felt Jaxon, and I just wore it on the flight, or had it on my lap. One woman thought I was Catholic for some reason, too.
Thank you. I think I'll be missing this sale though. If you looked at my other thread, I'm trying to go for a wool suit. What they sell there, my friend, is a polyester and viscose blend suit. Also, they have very strange sizing; a 40 is apparently "large," and a 42 is "small." I suggest that...
Yes, I think he wore three hats in the film, but it could be two if the garden scene hat is the fedora he wore while getting shot five times. The first photo looks like a homburg though.
I've just got the feeling that someone will buy these, and if it doesn't fit them (no size is indicated), they'll sell it later. I'm not sure if it's all that profitable though.
It's taken me maybe two or three years, and even now, I'm still trying to figure out why I like this type of hat so much. My first interest in hats really, was of cowboy hats, and I even wore one semi-continuously for two or three years as a kid before abandoning wearing hats altogether besides...
You see, the pre-distressed thing really only works with western cowboy or adventurer's hats (think Indiana Jones, Fred C. Dobbs, etc). I don't think pre-distressed hats falls in Ralph Lauren's market, and this is just an unusual that they're doing this. A company like Ralph Lauren should market...
