Pretty interesting read.

On a related note, down the road from my house, a BARBERSHOP opened up this week.

Not a hair-dresser's. Not a stylist's. Not a beautyshop. Not a hair-and-scalp doctor's...

a BARBERSHOP.

With an honest-to-goodness barber's pole out the front. I haven't seen one of those in years.

And it has a really sweet vintage look to it. Dunno about the cuts that they provide, though. Maybe one day I should try it out.

As Tootie Smith observed in "Meet Me in St. Louis":

I'd guess either New York, or maybe Los Angeles, but I'm not sure either.

A google-search on the subject would probably bear some interesting fruit. The article mentions New York City, so that's a good bet.

Ok Shangas I just read the article & to be honest it reads like a total puff piece for the Victorian tourism board! I love Melbourne, but in terms of golden era, towns like Katoomba or even Leeton in NSW are just as nice.

And I won't even start on the Melbourne vs Sydney debate

Whatever it might be, I don't think it's wrong. Melbourne does have a number of vintagey shops. Off the top of my head, I can think of Anton's (which I think has moved to a new location...anyone know where?), City Hatters and Circa Vintage Clothing (mentioned in the article. I haven't been to that shop, but I've read a lot about it). There's also another shop in the city called "Out of the Closet" or something along those lines. I admit I've walked past it for years. Maybe next time I'm in town, I should actually go inside...
