Hi, I just won a McGregor Anti-Freeze jacket, the kind made especially famous by James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause. Mine is dark brown however, not red, which I think would have been vastly more expensive. The seller dates it to the 1950s, but what do you think...
Thanks for the posts everyone. I may not go under 3 inches personally, as I wear 3 3/4 or 4 inch ties, and I don't want to make such a drastic jump from what's consistent for me. Does anyone have experience with Indy Magnoli's custom tie service? What could you tell me about it before I might...
I watched Star Trek, The Enemy Within, the evil Kirk clone one. Actually, I downloaded it last night to my iPhone. It's definitely up there I think, one of my favorite episodes!
I'm almost about to buy a new necktie. I'm a fan of some '60s sartorial aesthetics, but more subtle tie widths are what I'm after, as I don't think the particularly narrow ties will do it for me (see pictures of the current TV show Mad Men for a fast example of what I mean). I also want...
I agree with you. Wouldn't shaving in a part be like shaving in a bald spot line? I like to part my hair, but not all the time, and I wouldn't want to get a very wide looking part.
I might actually get a haircut like this next time. Here, there's a light, not so pronounced parting going on...
Some of my favorite movies were out in theaters or being made in 1967. :)
I'm guessing 1967 has little to do with the design inspiration of that bag however, it looks more old school than that.
I'll see when I find an occasion I'd expect to find myself in a suit. I'll have to bring it with me anyway because I'll be carrying my books and laptop in it. I think it will look a lot better than wearing a backpack would (with a suit especially), that's the difference I wanted to make most...
Although it's not as nice as some of the suggestions here, I ended up buying a "Timbuk2" messenger back at Sports Chalet this evening. Somewhat ironic, since I had doubts about getting one before (the whole "murse" thing basically), but it's very functional for how I would use it. This is what...
Most often, I wear my hats straight. Sometimes I'll tilt my fedora to the left, as my left ear is slightly lower (and inward) than my right due to a hearing restoration surgery; I just think a left tilt looks better on me than a right tilt for that reason.
Makes sense, thanks, although they do look nice and professional.
Actually, something like this picture would probably be perfect for my needs, judging how thick it is:

I may place an order on that, and it's affordable...
Pardon the unhappy facial expression of the time, but this is what I was wearing today. Unintentionally, I ended up wearing the jacket while doing a little spelunking too!

Maybe I must have misinterpreted the size... you're right, it's probably just for one Bible or book of similar size, not several. I don't think that's what I'm going to get.
Thank you for the responses everyone. I just realized that I haven't checked this thread since I started it.
Yeah you're right. I guess I just don't like the stereotypes associated with them, but I wouldn't mind having some sort of satchel eventually. I wear leather jackets often, so a...
Well, I am a bit underweight (and I do have small shoulders), and I'm currently trying to work out (bulk up about five or ten pounds). Also, taking into consideration that leather shrinks a bit in rain, would it be a bad idea to keep the jacket? This is something I plan on wearing for decades if...
Congratulations Mrc, that's a nice jacket! On another note, the Isle of Man's flag reminded me of Sicily's at a first glance; the three-legged triskelion symbol. All of the patches on the jacket have great detail.
I did; a Raiders of the Lost Ark jacket by Wested, their goatskin model:

Adam Savage's jacket looks characteristically Indiana Jones, but his hat actually looks similar to the Clint Eastwood "Man With No Name" hat. Maybe it's the leather band...
