Question: If a seller brushes or steam cleans a hat prior to shipping it, does it need any further cleaning? I ask due to the fact that one of the hats I may be getting probably dates from the 1930s, along with my previously mentioned dust mite allergy.

Were your parents/grandparents/etc hat wearers?
Were/are there any other hat wearers in your family? If so, who?
For those whose parents wore hats (I'm talking people whose parents were of the WWII/Korean War generation): Did your parents continue to wear hats after the 1950s/1960s?
For...
Nixon circa 1948, all from the HUAC era:
The young man wearing glasses and testifying in front of Congress is a young Ronald Reagan, in a very rare shot of him wearing glasses. For those who don't know, Reagan was literally almost blind. He could not even see a square in front of him. Hs...
Is it possible that that's during the Alger Hiss case (the first photo)? I remember even in the flashback to the Hiss case in the movie Nixon, he is shown wearing a fedora.
What's the oldest hat you wear?
Out of all your hats, what's the oldest hat you actively wear? And how did you determine it's age (that's something I want to learn about hats in general--how to place a date on them...)
I'd like to add that I'd love to get a hat like LBJ's--It seems to be a cross/compromise between a Fedora and a Cowboy hat. Anyone know what kinda hat it i exactly? I'd definitely wear something like this as is it's Western-ish without being a Cowboy hat per se--It wouldn't utterly stand out in...

I hope this isn't going to offend anyone here....
But I've just never been able to get into straw hats, or cowboy hats for that matter. I come from NYC, so maybe that's the reason. It's just they've always seemed somehow...comical...to me. I can't...
Am looking at several hats, all by the same wonderful seller. One widebrimmed Stetson, one black widebrimmed homburg, and a couple of stingies. I figure the stingies would be for more casual wear, the homboug would go well for dress occassions and the Stetson would go well for when I want to...
This is from a home movie of my great grandpa, from the summer of 1963. This was a graduation.
Anyway, my great grandpa is alerted to the presence of a my grandpa, his son in law, holding the family video camera. He didn't like my grandpa. He turns toward the camera and looks at it for several...
When you buy a used hat--particularly an old one--have you ever made an attempt to trace it's history? Like who first owned it, etc? For me it'd be wild if someone out there has a hat that was belonged to one of my great grandparents or great uncles, or if by some odd fate, one of my family's...
