Johnny J, what a nice find! The hat seems to be in terrific shape! Depending on how much it cost to acquire, I would consider sending it to be professionally cleaned if a good solid brushing isn't doing the trick. Others here do their own naptha bath, but I'd be hesitant on such a quality old... -

Spend enough time here, and low crowns with stingy brims will start to look a bit "anemic." (With no disrespect intended to Daizawaguy, GWD, and other stingy-wearin' brethren!) You will start to get used to taller crowns and wider brims as you wear them. -

From your description, I would tell you that most here would say it is not an Open Road if the words Open Road are not printed on either the liner or the sweatband. Did you check under the sweatband? Sometimes you'll see a reorder tag, and this might actually say "Open Road" on it... -

Alan, you and FMW both mention the weight of the felt. Are these weights standardized? How does one know the weight of the felt? Interesting stuff...
