That is interesting Zet. I don't know anything about that one so the price seems extraordinary. I think I understand the psychology behind that $500 OR more than I understand what happened with this hat...
If the Stetson homburg was a St. Regis it's somewhat understandable. You tend to see them with some regularity on ebay. Strats, Stetson 20's and Borsos seem to be more sought after as well.
Wow! You posted some good links and gave some good info. Yeah, I think you're right. Our tastes are very similar. I don't currently own a pair of black boots but liked the non-shiny Lucchese's as well. I'm not sure I'd call the Red Wings cowboy boots either. I'd call them work boots.

Firstly, welcome to the Lounge, Mercer! If I put a little thought into what you're asking, I believe it boils down to how many pairs and with what type of hide/finish do you need for your particular wardrobe. That said, I think you are the one who needs to answer that question.
My boots...
I'm a regular D width. Aside from that, you read my mind! This thread needs some pictures!!! I'll see what I can do, but the rest of you please consider this encouragement as well.
Okay kyboots, I can tell you want to keep this boot conversation flowing so I'll step up to the plate.
I'm not a Texan, so I don't have access to a custom bootmaker in every town. I'm in southern California so there are custom surfboard shapers in every town! Be that as it may I'm a boot...
Jaunty, that new one looks great!
Speedracerx - I really like the tall crown on your VS!! How tall is it? There's something inviting about a tall crown and narrower brim...
Alan, the homburg suits you well.

I'm definitely wary, because I've heard the China rumors before but do not know the truth. I'll have to see what I can find out. I have seen the Hathorn's before - I take it these are White's less expensive line. Interesting that it says the uppers are imported. It looks to be a nice boot...
By the way, I just looked at the original website I posted and it says, "Country of Origin: Made in USA."
Take a look again...

I would like to avoid Chinese made boots as well, and thought the...
