I bring all my shoes to Timpson's here in Dublin and they always do a great job (and the 15% discount comes in very handy). I used to bring my shoes to a specialist cobbler (who mostly works with designer shoes) but I felt I was being completely ripped off - bonkers money for tiny heels etc. -...
My friend invited me along to a mother/baby screening but to me that would be my idea of hell (so is any kind of mother/baby/toddler group!) so I made my excuses! If I can't concentrate completely on a movie I'd prefer not to see it at all. When my daughter was very young I used to be able to...
This was the last film my husband and I went to see in the cinema (since our little girl came along going to the cinema has been knocked on the head in favour of going out to dinner) - great movie - quite long but one I would recommend.
Dear Zachary - One of the most upsetting documentaries I have seen - I won't give away too much (particularly for people who, like me, weren't familiar with the case) but you are left feeling so enraged and saddened by the whole sorry series of events. You are just left wondering how some...
Sad to hear Beastie Boys' MCA Adam Yauch has died aged 47:

My Mum got a gift from her aunt of a ruby and diamond ring (judging the description my Mum gave, it was like Fergie's ring when she and Prince Andrew got engaged) - her Aunt was super generous (had an amazing jewellery collection) and very fond of my Mum and spoiled her rotten - sadly my Mum had...
My brother threw out pretty much all my childhood toys a couple of months ago - they were up in my Mum's attic - eating no hay - then she decided to have the attic re-insulated so everything had to come out of the attic and was put in the garage. I really should have taken some of the good toys...
I see "amazeballs" is the latest way to describe something awe-inspiringly good - can't say I will ever use this expression myself - it sounds a little ridiculous (or is that ridic?).....
That's what I tell myself about shoes, bags, scarves, gloves, dresses.........;)
Take comfort that you are buying from the thrift store (so not spending too much - I tell myself this all the time) and that you are recycling clothing - that borders on virtue!
Sheeplady - Another coat addict! I think I love coats more than shoes (and that's saying something!) - you can get years and years out of a coat once you look after it so they are an investment.
Thank you for you lovely compliment on my dress (I think I now have seven Cover Girl of Miami...
Oh Lala! & Miss Tuppence - I'm the same as you ladies - I have such a coat addiction - for a laugh I just went and counted how many I have - it's 32! I seriously have no where to put my vintage clothing so I'm going to give buying a rest for a while and see what I have (too much some may say!)...
Thank you! I just hope it arrives in one piece! Best of luck in finding your dream dresser set!
Oh Lala - those are beautiful - the cape is something else - so glam! Any idea what decade its from?
I just started it and am having a hard time putting it down - what an incredible and tragic story. All the praise for this autobiography is so well deserved - it's very moving and so beautifully written.
