I agree with Smuterella- they're really versatile. I think you could wear them with just about anything :) Plain or printed cotton button up blouses, plain or striped t shirts, and for shoes I'd probably wear oxfords, flat espadrilles, sandals, or classic keds.

I have a pattern very similar to the one above from 1940, and suits with pleated skirts from 1939- but they don't reach the proportions of the 50s skirts.
