Those are so cool. I've got a similar set but they're ships, but without the original card. So neat to see the original presentation :)
My husband has a Home Craft magazine from the 1930s that shows how to make them- I think it has patterns for the ships and fish. Pretty nifty stuff.
LD, I love the artwork on those cards!
I couldn't help myself, these are too yummy. But after I bought them I realized they were all close to the same shade, and what I really needed were brown and green buttons lol
I've got a few dresses I'm parting with from my personal collection. Hope they find good homes!

Love this! Sounds just like my hubby, minus the hair and the British part. ;)
We have our serious sides, too (I think I'm a bit too serious for him sometimes), but he cheers me right up with his silliness. And I love how he's always whisting some vintage tune. And not afraid to laugh at...
Poggleberry, those green pajamas are UNREAL! WOW!!! I love absolutely everything about them- the color, the print, the lacing at the neck. Yum!
Ms Sew-n-Sew, I think that book has to go on my wish list. Good find!
Oops! I'm a little late popping in here, but wanted to say thank you for mentioning my trouser pattern! :D
Swinggal already mentioned it, but there's two size packets- the size pack A is for 24-28 waist and size pack B is for 30-34 waist.
Kamikat, I love that blouse! Especially the little ruffles. I have that fabric too. Love it :)
Christi.adell, I think those trousers look fabulous! It does take a while to get used to vintage style pants. I think I finally abandoned my modern jeans lol Not saying I wouldn't buy a pair if I...
Agreed. They make really nice and cool dresses for all about town, especially when made up in lightweight batiste, or even eyelet.
In the 30s and 40s cotton was even used for summer eveningwear. I've got a few dresses like this.
I think it mostly depends on the drape of the fabric. It's not...
Ditto what the other gals say.. don't bother lining it unless you want to. I'd wager that unlined dresses were more common, especially during wartime with fabric shortages.
Many thanks, ladies for the comments on my projects! :)
Rosie_Beau, I think that looks wonderful! Especially for the first thing you've made. You don't even WANT to see my first projects. lol I can't even see the faults you're talking about. Looks great to me!
Yay! I won this playsuit :) It's from 1940. I'm slooowly acquiring a collection of summer outfits as shown in a McCall magazine layout. Yeah, I'm a dork :p
Aren't the shoes a hoot? Looks like clogs and chunky sandals a la Birkenstocks. lol
And I admit I totally don't get the 1939-1940...
I haven't posted projects in a while [huh]
I made an Edwardian dress for a costume convention. More on that project here.
And just finished these three hats :D
I think it's not only vintage lady to vintage lady, but vintage lady to modern lady...
I don't dress in vintage every day. As time goes on and I make more of my clothing rather than buy it it looks more vintage, but I specifically remember several occasions when I saw someone wearing vintage and...
Oh my gosh, that is SO cute and so flattering! Love the fabric!
Yay for sewing tools to make life easier :) Glad to help with the buttonhole gauge thing. Only drawback is that it isn't *quite* long enough to mark a whole front skirt, but at least it stays in shape when you stretch it and has...
Ooh... that's the most tedious part of sewing for me. Was worth all the effort, the dress is perfection!
Have you ever used a buttonhole gauge? I finally got one. Best tool evah.
Ditto Pfaffs as good machine. That's what I use as well. I think mine might be from the late 90s, but it's a...
I'm with you, Amy! I'd wear it, too :)
But I kinda like vintage fashion that's outside the norm. I think I like it because it's such a novelty. I have some Vogues from 1939/1940 and some of the looks you'd swear were 70s. But, heck, I loved wearing 70s clothes in high school, that could have...
