i have had a look and they look really nice, and i think you're right, they will look nicer being a bit more fitted on the leg.

1940's jeans

Is the only place to find them Freddies of Pinewood? I would really like a pair as the weather has already started to turn cold, however, they're out of my size. Do any of you know how long it takes them to restock? My measurements are 26 - 36 however, apparently the jean size is the actual size of the jeans and you should buy bigger and just take in the waist? At least that's what I gathered from what people have said about Freddies jeans.
I've never bought Freddies before, does anyone have any other input on them?

I bought 2 inches bigger than my natural waist. When I first tried them on they were a bit big but then I washed them in hot water and they fit my waist perfectly now. I have small hip waist ration only 5 inches different so I will probably have to have the hips taken in by a tailor. I have to say that they are the most reasonably priced repros I have found. You could look for some vintage blue bells on ebay or etsy to do come up occasionally. I can't remember any other sources right now but I know there are some out there I just can't remember.

Here is my experience-after reading this thread & also another FL member's experience on her blog (she is the same height as me & only 1 inch different in the waist & hips ) & seeing as she was so happy with hers i thought ok this sounds like the way to go but i guess just because someone is very similar in measurements & height doesn't mean they are going to be the same body shape .I ordered the next size up in the waist as i didn't want them to be too tight but they were absolutely massive on me.I couldn't believe how big they were!
Anyway i reordered a pair in my exact measurements (36,44) & they fit perfectly.

Freddies of Pinewood jeans, what size to get?

I'd love to buy a pair of Freddies, however, I'm not sure what size to order, and which ones are the most 1940's looking.
I measure 26-36, and they have some in that size, however I've heard that you should gt a size up and take in the waist, so's they won't be too tight. Is that true?

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck locating some nice vintage looking jeans. Not side zipping but more like what the guys in the 50's would have worn. Oh yea, that don't cost $100's, a tall order I know.

Freddies Of Pinewood also does mens jeans that look lovely I would like a pair for myself. Also there was a european company called Ace making thema few years back not sure if they are still at it.

I just bought Prison Blues mens jeans, which i'm happy with, indigo denim, utility style, high waist, slight taper to the leg, although they do other styles, dungarees etc, but the utility style looks better on girls so i was told in the shop and they were right. They also start at a twenty eight waist which is good too as i'm a twenty six. They are also made in the US. Actually i had them on last night and someone stopped me outside the fish and chip shop to ask me where i got them. But i will second the Freddies.

For another fifties style jean, Wrangler Regular Mens Fit style 945pw is ok, i just bought a pair second hand in a vintage shop which does repro items too and they are nice and highwaisted and my new everyday jeans.

I'm always on the hunt for fifties looking jeans without spending the earth, so i'll keep posting when i find 'em.

Cheap 50s jeans...

I've had the best luck getting genuine 1950s jeans on ebay; I just got a cute pair lined with red tartan flannel for about $10 total! The catch was that the zipper was torn from the jean, but that was a quick sew-up, and otherwise they're in great shape. It seems like vintage jeans online are either CRAZY expensive (there's seriously a pair of vintage 50s "skinny jeans" for $500 right now) or dirt cheap with a few flaws.

^^ I get those in size 16 slim; they're pretty authentic, and for about $20.00, not a bad deal; they last forever! The regular men's ones are great too, but I'm short, so boy's lengths are the only ones that fit me.
