Ohairas, that's going to be so cool! Glad you figured out your lace trim. That's really a unique treatment! I had seen pre-made gathered trim on a net background with a swirled design but not that swirled around itself as well. Really neat!
Drappa, I wish I could help but I'm scared to death...
Hi all!
I know this is a shot in the dark, but I figured I'd ask cause you never know :)
I recently bought myself a late 20s coat and it got here and it's got an old Bellas Hess label in it. It's not in my 1930 spring/summer catalog but is very similar. I'm wondering if anyone has any late...
That's a great story, Annet. LOL!
At the drug store the other day the cashier asked me if I listen to Weezer. I was really confused until he told me my glasses look like Weezer glasses. They're cateyes with rhinestones. [huh] lol
If you know what suits you and what doesn't- what colors look good on you and what to stay away from, or how you can make them work on you and if you have an eye for proportion, I think that it's all you really need.
More importantly have fun with your clothes.
I hate seeing folks get stuck in a...
I think it depends on the fabric. If it's woobly or has a loose weave I will, but if it's just a cotton or something that retains it shape decently well I just go for it without staystitching. :)
Wow! I love that! I'd wear something similar in a heartbeat :D
Is that one of those blankets? (dont remember the name but I think it starts with a "C")
So cool you have that piece of family history!
Wow- that one has me stumped. It looks almost 60s in the front but the back is cut more late 40s [huh] I'd be interested to hear what others think as well.
I went through my personal pattern stash and am getting rid of my unused Vintage Vogue reprints. Some of them are now out of print. They're listed here on Etsy. I'll do discounts for lounge members if you find several Vintage Vogues you want. Make sure to send me a message mentioning the...
Love that pattern, DPD.
I also really like Past Patterns. Their packaging, pattern, etc are pretty basic (the instructions look like just photocopies) but they have some really awesome styles you can't get at the other repro companies, including earlier stuff. I've made several of their...
Aww.. this happens to me with 30s dresses. Everything will fit but the hips, and I'm not really a hippy girl :(
Now I always have to ask the hip measure and give myself a few inches wiggle room to make sure. There's been many a gorgeous dress I have to talk myself out of because the measure is...
Hiya!
There were gothic and especially Victorian inspired looks in vintage eras. The most specific I can think of offhand are the "Vamp" or "Vampire" look of the 1920s and the Victorian revival of the late 1930s (specifically 1938- early 1940). I don't have any pictures offhand, but those two...
