For me it has to be the Hawker Hurricane, the unsung hero of the Battle of Britain and as the pilots who flew them often said, it was a good old sturdy workhorse with an excellent gun platform that could give out and take a hell of a lot of punishment and still get you back home in one...
As you can see from the WW2 photos in the link, jackets sizes and fittings were all over the place so there isn't really a definitive cut, shape etc. it was just a case of you got what you got which looked about right.
My advice would be, if you like the jacket and it is comfortable then you...

Suberb looking jacket / flightsuit Andrew, you definately seem to have the magic touch my friend......what I have noticed that most originals seem to be russet in colour and not many seem to be found in seal.
Does anybody know if there was a reason for this as why this was the case :)
Forget the last, just googled it and found that Johnnie Houlton died in Auckland, New Zealand on 16 April 1996 only a couple of years after the footage was taken.
At least he got to see his old mates one last time before he departed.
I have the same jacket 44" but with the berry knits, not bad for £100 in the Sale from Aero......unfortunately I don't wear it as much as I should as my main wearer is my ELC Star which I absolutely love but all in all the Aero is a great jacket.
Just to go off on a slight tangent, was there any ruling on as to whether the officer could choose to wear his SD crusher or his Garrison cap with his pink & greens or was this down to his personal choice.
Only have one patched jacket, a Cooper all my other A2s have no insignia.......on my Cooper, I have the boxing eagle of the 334th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force.
A big fan of the RAF no.71 Squadron (Eagle) which became the 334th in Sept1942.
Mr H, I hear what you are saying.........if you are looking to make mods to an existing 48" by adding length then possibly not, but it may be worth checking with Aero about the snugness of the body fit compared to their Highwayman as you may find that the A2 is a tighter fit.
I have an Aero indian goat A2 in a 44" reg, however it is a slim cut and even though I wear a 44" suit jacket I prefer a little more room in the A2 fit (my personal choice) so I wished I had gone up a size.
Having said that, Aero A2s tend to run a little short on the body length so going for a...
Would any of you chaps be able to tell me the difference between the WW2 AAF Officer Garrison cap and EM Garrison cap, eg. material, cut, colour of the piping, differences in the style of cap etc. are there any noticing features that immediately stand out defining one from the other that can be...
I picked up a heavy steerhide Highwayman from the Used Aero section on their website, it's in perfect as new condition and is already breaking in nicely all for the tidy sum of £175.......never had a Highwayman style jacket before and I am really impressed with the quality of it. :)
