I have a Pike Bro. N1 but it's not the current version with inside pocket G1 style but with a standard patch pocket sewn on the wool lining.
I believe that the current version of the N1 has been altered, the amount/thickness of the wool padding bulk has been reduced bringing the jacket more in...
I have several A2s with collar stands and yes they can be a bit of a problem when the jacket is stiff and new. The best way (which I have found) to rectify this, is will HWT (hot water treatment) so here is what I suggest you can try.
1) Depending on the Contract maker of your A2 eg. Rough...
I had one of the waxed cotton jackets when I first started riding bikes in my teens during the eighties, great jacket but the waxed cotton held all the odours that came with biking - the smell of the road, two-stroke and engines.
It go so bad that my mum used to make me hang it in the garage...
nice looking Pike N1, difficult to see the difference in thickness compared to my older version of the Pike N1 but does look less bulky.
some close up pics of the hardware (if you get time) would be great so I can see if they have upgraded or kept the same.
I personally wouldn't stencil with ink...
Mine is also a Pike Brothers N1 Deck jacket but the previous version which was over thick on the wool lining (more so than originals) where as the current version that Pike Bros are selling has had the lining toned down a bit to make it a bit thinner and less bulky so more in line with the...
Not many UK guys posting at the moment, temperatures in the UK are well above the seasonal average for this time of year and it doesn't look like we will see any snow either.
I was hoping to give my Irvin and airing this year but it's not looking promising, I am even wearing my A2 for work...
Here are a few of photos of some of my G1s.......
Original 1950's LW Foster Sportswear 7823(AER) G1
Repro Eastman 55J14 G1
Repro BK Gordon & Ferguson M422a
Looking at the colour of the hide in the photos, it is very similar in shade to my GW RW27752 in seal so I guess there is a fine line between what would be classed a dark/russet and light seal.
I have a Wested Indy in distressed cowhide and it's a very well made, comfortable jacket.
I have never received any Indy comments or jibes and I have only ever seen one other person wearing one (at the same time as myself I might add) and we both gave each other a surprised and slightly...
I currently own 4 A2s ( 1GW, 2ELC, 1Cooper) and 4 M422a\G1s but ideally I would like get down to just one A2 and one G1 that way they would get plenty of wear but as previously mentioned, it's not that easy but each to their own.
Have as many or as little as you like I would say.......:D
Don't like it I'm afraid, looks like a 70's suede copy of an A2 but then again I'm not a fan of any of the Aero contracts to be honest irrespective of who makes them.....so it's a no from me.
Here's a couple of photos of my ELC A10 gloves, had them for a couple of years but not worn them much so still need a lot of breaking in...........mine don't have the AAF logo on them which was an option at the time of purchase.
See what you think..........
I also agree with CBI, try for an original G1.....I picked up a 1968 Martin Lane Co. G1 size 46 in great condition off ebay for just over £100, all it needed was a little clean up with water to take off the surface dust etc.
Having said that though, the quality is no where near as good as my...
