The fit is pretty good, especially in the body however the sleeves are a bit too long, about and inch and not a tapered as I am used to so hoping this will reduce as the sleeves crease up.
The jacket is a 48" Reg but fits like a 46" Reg in the body so i'm guessing this is the reason for sleeve...
Here are some photos of the PHAAR G1, the jacket actually looks betting in the pictures than in the flesh.
I have even attempted at quick HWT misting session on the jacket and worn wet but still not much character has developed, I will be removing the San Diego Leather label and replacing the...
well I have recieved the G1 and it's ok jacket for the price, workmanship is good but the leather is not so good as it smells like leather but looks and feels like a plastic pleather.
the label say genuine leather and the collar is mouton or so it says also, all contract labels, DSCP label have...
thanks for the photos Deac, another question for you......I noticed that the PHAAR is a size 48 L ?, what size do you usually wear.
the reason I ask is that I usually wear a 46 reg but was advised by the seller to go a size up to a 48 which I did as the fit is snug, would you say that is the...
Thanks Deac, cool photos......quick question, does the jacket have the paper clip style zipper as I can't really tell from the pictures also any chance of a quick pic of the Contract Label if you have a chance.
I have a PB N-1 which is the older version with the size label numbers eg. 44" and also has an internal patch pocket instead of the current navy style zip pocket.
From what I remember, Pike Bros mentioned that the new\current version of the N1 would have a different style internal pocket...
Unfortunately, we have only had a few cold days this winter in my part of the UK the rest wet and mild which is pretty disappointing.
This is the second winter on the run where the cold weather has not materialised even though the forecasters were promising the coldest winter in 50 years...
My top four favourite WW2 aircraft in order are.....
1) Hawker Hurricane
2) North American P51-D Mustang
3) Supermarine Spitfire
4) Republic P47-D Thunderbolt
There were numerous Saint movies back in the 1940's starring George Sanders as Simon Templar so not surprised this image found it's way to aircraft nose art.
Here's a link to some of the movies in anybody is interested......

I have one the SOF 1st pattern Tankers and it's a very well made jacket in the correct colour with excellent quality material / knits, the fit is good and true to size plus very warm.
Other minor observations, the jacket feels a little short in length to what I am used to (but from what I have...
I have one these and it's a very well made jacket in the correct colour with excellent quality material / knits, the fit is good and true to size.
Other minor observations, the jacket feels a little short in length to me (but from what I have read the original jackets were made like this)...
I agree, the collar shapes differ on both jackets with the GW being accurate and correct compared to the ELC version, however as mentioned these are old photos and I have re-worked the ELC collar something resembling the GW collar shape.
Here is a close of pic of the GW collar shape, to me a...
I have the RW 27752 A2 contract from both Eastman and Good Wear, I have to agree with Jeff's comments above - GW hands down in all aspects.
Here are two old photos of each jacket......
Eastman RW 27752
Good Wear RW 27752
Not great pics but all have got at present.....hope that helps in...
Here's photo of the white spec label but the numbers aren't very clear due to the stitching running through them but any idea's on the jacket's year or manufacture would be great....
My very first A2 (which I still have) is a commercial Orange label Cooper, not sure from what year it was manufactured but it has all the same features as the issued Saddlery version.
Excellent goatskin, purple hue knits, Ideal zipper, one piece arms, no under arm gussets, no hand warmer or...
I a photo of my mint LW Foster 7823(AER) size 46" from the mid to late 1950's for comparison, you can see the dark auburn colour of the mouton which is very soft and does show a lighter shade depending on which way the fur is brushed and also when in direct sunlight.
Still wearing my A2 for work at present, however I did get my Irvin out over the weekend to try it on and see if it still fits from the last time I wore it 2 years ago.
It's a bit on the large size (46") since last time but will now allow layering........ELC Irvin vintage 1942 Pattern.
Early...
