This model A-2 is our top seller. Both A-2s are Eastman Rough Wear 27752 examples and both are size 40R. I'm doing the modeling and my body measures are as follows: 40" chest circumference, 30" waist, 5' 9" tall, 33” shirt sleeve, 147 lbs. with a lean, athletic build.

The used Rough Wear 27752 is from the very first batch of Eastman’s then-new War Horse, which we received in Feb. 2011. Please keep in mind that the wear and fading to the aniline dye coating took place mostly in the first 12 months of regular use and while exposed to a good deal of sunlight; though I’ve continued to wear this jacket, I typically wear a new jacket with extreme regularity for a year, then it goes into rotation among others in the wardrobe. I probably wore this A-2 twelve additional times when this photo series was taken, so please keep that in mind.

Also, this old(er) A-2 was produced from a highly veg-tanned horsehide, which I absolutely love with respect to the leather, but it falls into the category of being somewhat too stiff and heavy to be truly authentic, as well as having that pronounced squeak some veg-tanned hides readily yield. If the leather had been drummed longer, it would have been much more supple and provided a better drape as we typically see on vintage A-2s, and it should have been a wee bit less thick.

All subsequent Eastman A-2s in the new War Horse and Vintage War Horse hides have been in the perfect weight range and yield a fabulous drape as seen in the second set of photos of me wearing a new Rough Wear 27752 A-2 jacket, so these early Eastman forays into the newer War Horse leathers (as depicted below in my personal Rough Wear 27752) met the same problem with respect to weight as other high-end makers have suffered from; I suspect it’s not necessarily easy striking that perfect balance between the correct weight, hand, and drape, thus I tip my hat to any manufacturer in this business trying to find that perfect middle ground.

The “fit images” of the other Rough Wear 27752 seen here are from Eastman’s newer consignments. The hand, drape, and weight are beautifully matched to vintage specimens; the leather isn’t too stiff or thick, and the veg-tanned squeak was sorted out years ago after the first consignment. This size 40R weighs precisely 3 lbs. 4 ozs. – perfectly in the range of a vintage A-2 of the same approximate measurements.

We have sizes 38R - 48R in stock. You can see sizing tips, how we measure, product measurements, and other informative pieces of information on our website at the following link:

Here's a quick photo of my Eastman Rough Wear 27552 A2 from around 2012..........

That's some great sleeve creasing, Marv! The whole A-2, really, has a wonderful lived-in look that clearly reflects it has adapted to your body. Superb stuff we all hope to achieve!

Not sure if I’m posting this in the right place or not, but I just found an Eastman a2 for sale which measures to about a 40 or 42 but has 27” length and 25” arms. Does this sound like a “long” size to anyone? Arms sound shorter than a long.

I agree, usually the back and arm lengths are pretty much dead even. Sounds like someone might have purchased a long and then had the arms shortened.
