Like she stated in the articles, the fancier movie costumes usually win and it did. But I doubt those who vote know the effort that went into True Grit's clothes. Knowing that everything was new made and then beat up to make them look old might have swayed some votes! I enjoyed the movie and...
Only One?
But they fit so nicely on top of each other when your running from a burning building. Plus this way your favorite won't get burnt!
:D
Even though I have a few nicer hats, the one I'd grab would be the Foreman and Clark I purchased back in 1980. Most of the others can be...
There's been more than a few times over the last month or two that I wondered how Colby Jack was doing. It's sad news to know that he lost the fight. Rest In Peace.
Well here's my Akubra Sydney as we shoveled off the sidewalk so the dog could get outside. The weatherman said 2"-4" and we already had 7 or 8! Heck I think I have two inches on the brim.
While I prefer fur felt hats, I have owned wool ones and besides the price and crushable points, I also think they may be a good starter hat for someone who might not be sure whether they will feel comfortable wearing a hat in public. I'd hate to see someone spend a $100+ and then decide that...
It's actually borwn, just the shade the pic was taken in gives it a grey hue. But that's the first hat I owned. Bought it back in 1980. It's a Foreman and Clark and still gets regular rotation. It needs its sweat replaced since it's cracking from age, but I just can't bring myself to send it in.
It looks like Larry the Cable Guy goes to NASCAR

And for the record, I don't have a thing against bad baseball caps... just poorly executed ones!
If you go with the wider brim hat in brown or maybe even a lighter tan color, you run the serious risk of the Indiana Jones stereotype. Personally when I wear an A2, I wear something in a light or mid grey color, usually with a 2 inch brim. Never heard a comment or snicker that way. But of...
Yes there are indeed two Adventurers. The one sold by David Morgan is sort of a wider brimmed Federation. The Adventurer with the taper (which is a totally different hat) is sold through Everything Australian. There is a 3 month wait on hats from there though. I'm trying to decide whether to...
Here's a link to the discussion thread on Jaxonbilt hats. Seems like there are several satisfied customers there.

When I first read this I wasn't sure how I felt. Maybe it comes as you get older, but no it really doesn't matter what someone else thinks of how I dress or act. It only matters how I and those closest to me feel about it. I bought my first Fedora in 1980 and loved wearing it until Indiana...
For me, it depends on what type/color of hat I wear. Greys and greens generally get a nice comment. Browns tend to have people thinking of Indiana Jones and a brown Fed III recently got a chuckle from a couple in their 30's. But I don't let what others think bother me, so when I saw them...
Personally I ordered the trimmer from Tandy Leather and found that the blades they send had too small of holes for the screws in the body of the trimmer. After several tries and several broken blades I ended up doing my Squatter with a pair of scissors. Not as pretty, but now my hat has ummm...
