Hi

I'm two months into the wait for a 50/50 blend Montana peak. Vintage68 has a couple of 100%s that he's proud of. He emailed me offline to state that he wore one of them on a two week in the woods deal. Roy is good to work with and can do whatever you want done it seems. I wouldn't go to him FIRST on a Fedora, but I think he'd do a good job.

Hey Duke, who makes a black Pugaree? Is it one with the dual (front and back) dips like the British / Indian WW1 and 2 Bush hats, or is it the single side dip ones that are available in most hat shops? A black double dip one might be a cool deal, but I'd hate to dye one from Lawrance ordnance. It would run when you sweat.

You might email them, they sell this:
http://www.lawranceordnance.com/khaki_and_green/hats_australian_slouch/nswmr.php
and it HAS a black pugaree on it anyway. The plumes are a little ostentatious, but then you DO live in Vegas...

The ones I am familiar with tuck in on the side of the hat and was smaller like in the link. You know, your typical safari look.
Just curious what does the single dip look like? Pics?

Hi

I own one of these, and it's a double dip, front and back sewed hatband.

http://onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=987&bc=no

There are no clips to set like on the ones you're showing, which I referred to as single dip. Note that the one I linked to has the bands gathered in front and back. The others are gathered only on one side. Having seen the "Out of Africa" pics, I'm no longer sure which is correct for the Safari look, the front and back, or the single side pugaree. It will be a while, but I'll go through a Safari book I have at home. I have to setup for a 4H air pistol match tonight, and run it tomorrow, so I probably won't be able to post until Sunday late or Monday.

This is my favorite picture of a British Bush hat:

This guy is a Major General, commanding at least a division at that point, and possibly a Corps. Personally, I'd have slipped him $0.50 cause he looked like he needed it.
