I thought this was interesting clip. Some of the ideas were kind of weird, but some of them are right on, including the clip with the lady in pants. Her outfit and shoes looks almost like something out of the 80's/90's, also notice the guys is...
I have a early 1940's Quiet Deluxe. Its in perfect shape. It belonged my friends grandfather when he was a journalist in Miami and was known to have been a very good friend of Ernest Hemingway who he would regularly visit in Key West.
I deffinatly agree here. They are part of history--and not just any history, movie history. Its sort of sad that the studios didn't take better care of these gems. They might not have been worn by Jean Harlow--, but they are still movie history.
OMG, this is my exact same predicament. I am supposed to be a size 2, but lately I have been going and EVERYWHERE I am either a zero, or smaller, what is up with these sizes today?!
I both collect and wear vintage pieces, but most of my collection is wearable, bought or tailored down to my size. My collection spans form 1900-1970, but the bulk of the dresses I have are from the 1920's-1940s, with most of them being from the 1930's since I think that is what looks best on me...
I have seen this before, along with another which I will try to find and post here.
Where would this have been shown? In a movie theater?
What is the date on this?
I came accross two very cool 1930's dresses at a local shop here in Burbank. These dresses orginally belonged to Paramount Studios, and have now been bought up by this store and put on thier racks. The dresses are not expensive, I just need to know if they should be saved, due to thier history...
This looks like one of those items they used to sell at tourist traps in the 1950's. Probably hit by a car, then turned into a purse. I'll have to pass on this one. I like animals too much.
I adopted my little doggie ( 5 pound maltese) from a lady who had two children and was dumping her pup after 9 years! I can't understand people like this! When you get an animal, it is a serious commitment.
I buy all my clothing--If I want something made, it has to made by a dressmaker, since I don't know how to operate a sewing machine and have desire to learn..
Interesting article on the origins of noir in LA:
This town is rated noir
A dark aesthetic that found a firm foothold in the movies -- fed by hard-boiled crime fiction and scandal-sheet journalism -- is a flourishing Los Angeles export.

Thank you for posting this, its great information. I have a 1960's version of Emily Post that I keep in my kitchen and love to look at it from time to time.
