I always assumed they were a big national brand, because i see so much of them. they are almost a household name to me. but i now realize that is because I am in Seattle. tony b in this area, as well as another lounger have both commented on them. I see now that they were mainly a northwest...
I don't recall that from the seventies. Flared legs would not really work long. but they did kind of cover the shoes, so i guess that is long, but not bunched up.
I remember in the 80s when fashion swing towards tapered legs again, there was a trend of pleated with narrow cuffs, and bagging...
I really don't understand why names and logos make people so upset. I don't buy my clothing for them, but a lot of the casual stuff i buy that fits, is decent quality and good style for me has Af, or Gap on it. i don't care.
I am not trying to impress anyone. Nor am I worried about...
The beauty of palm beach suits is that for the most part, they are matchable. So you can match this up with any pants you already own , or any you find, or a suit with damaged jacket.
Interesting. As a seattlite, I see Skyline jakkets on a regular basis. All the ones I have seen are all about the same. dark patterned nice fabric, square hip pockets, nice lounge jacket style from the mid to late fifties.
Usually they just have the skyline label. I am curious to see pics...
I would like the yellow Mcgregor with the birds, and the yellow slacks. Provided they are vintage and in good condition. Don't worry. i will not weare them together.

If you look close, you can see they are indeed rounded. The thing is, they do not cut away as much as most. so it is interesting style. but pretty obviously meant to be that way. the look seems 50s, but with the vest, this seems to be a very sporty style from the 30s maybe. Marc?
Great article. I like the way they focus on real Edwardian or whatever dressers, rather than the 9no offense to them) gothic type who do a less accurate, inspired type look. I am a bit of a purist.
Gotta say though, a quick read of Dickens, or gangs of New York or should dispel any myth...
Not to tell other people how to live, but you can spend a lot of time bemoaning the loss of courtesy, or manners, or dress style. or you can go out and do something fun, or at least have a fun conversation about hats or suits or dresses.
I honestly think looking at the negative of life is...
If you think that people were all polite back in the day, just read Dickens, or watch Deadwood, which is a pretty accurate representation of the place back then. Don't judge the past on the behavior of the upper class, or on movies.
True. And we no longer wear white wigs either. People may not practice the same etiquette rituals, but who cares. I couldn't care less weather someone tipped their hat to me. but if i say hello, it is nice to get a hello back. And if I am in traffic, it is nice when people let you go.
I wonder what he paid. did they know it was valuable? did he pay them what he thought was a fair price? Or did he try to get them as cheap as possible? Mind you, I think getting them as cheap as possible can be considered fair. It was just taking up space in their basement and now they have...
Yes, while vintage might have some of the machine stitching, it would almost surely not have it on the lapel. It would be hand stitched or inside stitched.

Well, size does not apply so much on a palm beach suit. I am talking more about 30s work wear, leather jackets, levis, etc. Suits are not as popular there. i am talking about the hardcore americana, western etc.
Macarthur and the americanization of japan is exactly why they love our...
While not so much any more, I remember ten to twenty years ago, I would see a lot of dapper old men. They looked good despite the fact that their clothes, ties, hats, shoes etc were all seventies and pretty bad. But they still wore them well.
A point? yes. they wore the clothes they last...
While smaller stuff is more abundant than very large stuff, it is not that common below a certain point, and since it is very consistent demand, prices tend to stay high. Besides that, americana is bigger there than here. We own americana already. We often will not pays as much for it.
