So, my daughter has a new job in Philly and has to walk from the train station to her office.
She's finally, realized that her stylish winter coat is not up to the task of real cold protection.
So, I'm trying to help her find something both stylish and warm.
I first recommended a nice wool...
I've got an Abercrombie & Fitch pullover hoodie from a few years back.
Very thick cotton with beautiful detailing all over.
It's super high quality.
I looked at their site and it doesn't look like they offer that style any more.
All of the A & F stuff I've ever owned has lasted pretty much forever.
Great comments guys.
So, I can draw the following conclusions from these posts;
- the double Mac is probably over kill for NJ
- size down for the Alaska Fit Mac
- buy your reg size for the Seattle Fit (not San Fran like my first post)
Keep the comments coming and thanks.

OK, I've been eyeing these coats for years but just couldn't justify the price.
I finally realize that I need a warm coat for those days my vintage Pea Coat doesn't cut it so I might just bite the bullet.
But I'm undecided between the 2.
To make matters worse, the Mac comes in both Alaska fit...
I do and it really doesn't show the seat belt marks.
That's why I change my car's oil in my Aero and walk on it to give it the worn in look.
The worse my Highwayman looks, the better it looks IMHO.

I've worn this very little since I've had it., so I'll call it Excellent condition.
It's a Med (38/40) and made of a mid weight waxed cotton, similar to Filson's Shelter Cloth.
No oily smell or feeling.
It has a beautiful sheen to it almost like leather.
Lots of nice features:
- Loden...
The Ibex is marked a large but fits like a medium.
It's boiled wool and very warm, but has 2 front zippers to open it up to a mesh liner for ventilation.
Hip length for ease of movement.
Excellent condition.
$130 shipped.
Next is a gorgeous medium, thigh length dress coat in olive green...
Are you serious Peacoat!?!
I live for speed.
At this point in my life, my MC handling skills are the best they've ever been.
I'm also mature enough to know my limits.
I know all about the risks, and I'm willing to take them because I love the adrenaline rush.
Also why I mountain bike...
The jacket looks awesome!
Great story.
Is that your Busa.
Always wanted one of them.
My next bike is a toss-up between a Busa and a BMW K1300S.
Thanks for the post.

I have a brown FQHH Highwayman that's about 3 years old.
I've never treated it gingerly, but today takes the cake.
I changed the oil in my wife's car wearing it.
Scratched the heck out of the back and elbows sliding around my driveway.
Even got a few drops of motor oil on my sleeve as a...
I know you stated that Vanson doesn't have anything in your style.
But, did you look at the Enfield.
It has a very similar look to the Schott you posted.
I have one and absolutely love it.
It's priced similarly to the Schotts, but I feel much higher quality.
The leather is heavy and would...
I like the last couple of suggestions, specially a pre-owned Filson Double Mac.
I'd also look for a nice vintage pea coat.
There's tons of them around.
PM Peacoat for help if you need.
He's the expert.
Go figure! :D

I'd really like to turn the zipper on my Vanson Enfield into a double so that
when I drive, I can unzip the bottom so it doesn't bunch up.
I assume all I have to do is the following:
- obtain a new slider from Vanson
- pry off the little staple thing at the top of the zipper
- remove the...
Looks like Saddleback Leather might have a little competition.
However, the use of a zipper is a big negative to me.
That's where I totally agree with Saddleback's design philosophy.
