Awesome writeup Plumbline, thanks.
I'm leaning toward the Chromexcel steer hide in havana brown.
The pix of it look amazing on the AL site.
Already requested samples of the Warhawk and it, in addition to Bison.
I've had FQHH in my Aero (btw it's FS in the Classifieds if anybody is interested) so...
OK Sloan, now I'm more confused.
What's the difference between the 2?
Between the Warhawk Brown and Chromexcel Steer Havana, which will patina better, which drapes better?
Anybody know the thickness of either?
I've been obsessively thinking about getting an AL Roadster to replace my Highwayman which I unfortunately now realize is too short both in body and sleeves.
Again, I'm not sure which leather to get.
I assume the Warhawk FQCT (what does the CT stand for) is similar to the Aero FQHH.
Also...
This jacket is about 5 yrs old and absolutely gorgeous.
I'm just not into shorter jackets any more.
Here are the specifics:
- Brown FQHH completely broken in
- One piece back
- Common Riding worsted wool lining (from Locharran) with brown courderoy strip at bottom
- Exterior ball and chain zip...
This is a beautiful, warm, and rugged jacket with typical Filson quality.
It's their heavy weight Dry Finish Tin Cloth lined with 24 Oz Mackinaw wool.
It's a Med and I wore it once before I realized it's just not my style.
My loss is your gain.

Geez, lotsa raw nerves here.
Didn't expect that sort of response from you HD.
I apologize to you and anybody else I've offended.
Maybe you and others ride in a much more sedate manner than I do and don't feel the need to gear up.
I do.
Agree to disagree.
We've both made our points.

Whatever.
In the future, please think about what you're posting in forums, and how it sounds to others.
I almost never preach to anyone, because, like you say, "to each their own".
BUT
Statements like you made really strike a raw nerve with me, and, as I suspect, other serious motorcyclists who...
If that statement is sarcasm, fine.
If not, it's one of the most juvenile, naive and stupid things I've ever read.
And thank God for the Darwin Theory!

I just got this yesterday so I thought I'd give it a quick and dirty review.
Firstly, the fit is spot on.
I'm a true 39 and this is a Med. It's one of the best fitting garments I've ever owned.
Not too tight, not too loose. I can wear a light sweater or Filson vest under it easily.
One thing...
If you're serious about protecting your hands in the event of an unplanned get off, there is only one leather that you want covering the palms of your hands; Kangaroo hide.
Held are some of the best.
Do some research and don't skimp on protection.

Well, she went to Macy's yesterday and got a nice Calvin Klein down coat.
It was on sale, and she had a gift card so it only cost her like $100.
I was really psyched to do some major research and find her the perfect coat too.
But, she's flying to Chicago tomorrow and really needed it NOW!
Oh...
So, my daughter has a new job in Philly and has to walk from the train station to her office.
She's finally, realized that her stylish winter coat is not up to the task of real cold protection.
So, I'm trying to help her find something both stylish and warm.
I first recommended a nice wool...
Thanks guys.
I'll cross post it in the Powder Room too.
Peacoat, do you have any specific suggestions on a Herringbone?
I have no clue as to brands, sites, etc to start looking.
