It is! I haven't bought anything from there, but apart from the fact that there are polyester blended garments, the clothes seem authentic enough to me. There are some interesting pants and coats, as well as all of those ties and scarves. I wonder if Hollywood ever uses their clothes for period...

Gentleman's Emporium has a similar untied string tie, but only a black one. While you are there, you could check out their other neckties, cravats, or scarfs.

It looks very good! I have read comments suggesting that the carbon grey Fed IV was a very dark color itself, but I wanted to see it alongside the black one. I think the photo shown in this thread is a very good example, but an outdoors comparison would be great as well.
Thank you for the photo! I'm leaning towards black, as that is a color I do not own. I do still have a wool dark grey Jaxon fedora, after all. However, carbon grey is also a good choice, so it's difficult to decide. There is a thread on here called "No Love For Black Hats," and that's been a...
Very nice ties, everyone! For Christmas, I have ordered the ties that I've shown pictures of, pretty recently, and on Christmas, I also received a very nice tie hanger for my closet, that could hold up to about sixty ties. Most of my new ties are narrow (Some of them are very narrow, down to 1...
Are there active members on here that own both the black and the carbon grey Akubra Federation IV hats? Or, do you own these colors, but with different Akubra hat models? I am after the Fed IV, but I would appreciate any pictures of those as well, especially drawing a comparison between the two...
Wear a hat if you would like to, there's nothing wrong with that. There are also people on that forum you've mentioned that do wear fedoras and other dress hats, but I don't think there are many. Although I believe hats are gaining a little more popularity for those that frequently wear suits...
It looks like a normal satin tie, to me. The width may be '70s wide, but that's a nice small knot, with a neat dimple. I don't think it stands out as being a '70s tie, to most people, in large part because it is solid. I have a few ties I think are '70s, or possibly late '60s. One is a 3.5...
I have one Trevira tie, which is quite a thin 2 1/4" one of the '60s. I ironed it at one point, too, although I didn't go very far with that. I was worried that I would end up with it being very flat. It's still a little bit wrinkled, but when it's tied up, it doesn't show as much, so it is...
Thank you for introducing me to Syrinx, December Angel was nice. I think Kraftwerk were popular in Canada, and the United States in 1974/1975, because of the song "Autobahn," which received a fair amount of radio play. At the time, the public was almost entirely unexposed to music like that, so...
I have never thrown a tie away, or donated/sold one. Fortunately, I have also never encountered a lot that had a tie I wouldn't wear. There are some ties in my collection I may wear a little less often than I would others, but nothing I absolutely wouldn't wear. That includes my several modern ties.
That's why I don't buy lots unless I intend to wear most, if not all of the ties. You'd just end up with a bunch that you may not care for. If in the above picture, those are the eight that you mentioned, they don't look bad to me.
I understand completely why the 1970s is considered such a tacky decade, often alongside the 1960s and the 1980s that it bridged. There were a number of goofy, awful, and mediocre fashions throughout these decades, although there are aspects that I also like. I am twenty-five years old, having...
Is that your Powell fedora, the color "tusk," or is it a newer Stetson-made hat? If the latter is not true, are there plans to make it available as a Stetson hat? It's an excellent hat that seems to have gathered a very positive reception on Humans of New York's Facebook page, probably inspiring...
Does anybody have a black Federation IV that you could show pictures of? So far, I have the dark brown and tawny fawn hats, which are great. Now, I'm thinking whether or not I'd get another one of those, and in which color?
Thank you! I really like that period of ties. They also seem to have a look that is slightly futuristic, to me, hence why they are really space age, like you've mentioned.
I like the look of a vertically striped tie, although I don't own one yet. I should think about that.
Those are all nice...
