I don't really understand the modern dislike of fedoras. Is it because of the type of people mainly seen wearing them, in the media, or on the streets? Yes, they've more recently been in fashion, and I believe they are on their way out of fashion if they still are, but I think Dakota Johnson may...
Hello! Could somebody help me date my new homburg hat? It is a Knox Twenty, with a narrow 1 1/2 inch wide brim, but a brown leather sweatband. Thank you!

You didn't do bad at all! I don't know if it's a Stetson 100, and I believe it would state it clearly in the sweatband or liner, but that's a very good hat.
Very informative post, thanks! They could be 1960s. For the one on the left, it could be a late '60s tie, in terms of styling and width, and the right tie looks more usual for the decade, as though it could have been made at any point in the '60s. There were no labels for me to see, though...
I'm glad that you are able to have this problem solved. Upon closer inspection, I don't think my hats have quite the same thing; the ribbon appears to be lifted from the base, slightly, but not uneven.
I think it is normal. My Akubra hats seem to have it slightly, as well as my vintage Stetson St. Regis hat, looking at them right now. You could try to gently lower the ribbon, but be careful.
Very good, Tommy!
I bought these later ties, which the seller believes to be made in the 1970s, although I don't normally go for that sort. In particular, I was after the one on the right, because of the red with gold/black stripes. It's just the type of striped tie I wanted to get, eventually...
Thank you for sharing that nice advert! It was interesting to see, for sure. Those are around three or four times taller than the tall stovepipe top hats worn by Abraham Lincoln!
Thank you! Yes, $0.99 was the price, free of shipping charges, and that's the cheapest vintage tie I've ever seen on ebay. Naturally, with two hours remaining, I tried it. It should arrive by next week. I could see this looking great with my tan suit and sports jacket, among others. I'm also...
James Powers, Guitarmasta12, and Two Types, very good ties you have got!
Last night, I won something on eBay that only cost 99 cents, with free shipping. I think this is the cheapest tie I've been able to get. It's a Superba Sugar & Spice tie, 3.5" by 50" in dimensions, although 2" is also...
Normally, with pre-1950s ties, I could get away with getting it to work with the four-in-hand knot, having the tie appear as long as the top of my pant's waistband or about an inch or nearly two above that. It is much easier for me to tie a latter half of the 1950s and 1960s tie, because of...
While these are closer to the styling of the late 1950s (Is the rise too low? They are advertised as being waist length) and the 1960s, these modern Lands' End pants seem good for those days you wouldn't care to wear wool pants, while having something that looks close enough. It would be a good...
It should be a great hat, then. I have a Stratoliner, but one of the new milan straw ones (beige), which are pretty inexpensive, but good for warmer weather.
