Very nice pictures, everyone! Hyena Stomp, you seem to know how to make even something as serious as an interview look fun, with the '30s casual wear style! I hope it works for you.
Yesterday, I wore my white silk scarf as a cravat, beneath a white shirt's collar, while wearing a charcoal grey...
I prefer flat-front with no cuffs, but I do have two pleated trousers with cuffs (one vintage early '60s wool, part of a suit, and one in cotton by Lands' End). Both pleated and flat-front pants could look vintage, depending on the rest of what one is wearing, or if you'd like, they could look...
I really like what Ken Cosgrove did for himself in this latest episode. I do want Ken to eventually become a writer, hopefully getting published as well as pleasing his wife, but what he did towards the end was not bad. He just got himself a better position than he was in before, even after...
I think Mad Men has a lot less mainstream appeal, compared to a show like Breaking Bad, because Mad Men is firmly a period piece set decades ago. The show's seasons and their output may also have much to do with the lack of enthusiasm or interest. It could also be the advertising agency aspect...
I think your preferences would be the late 1910s/first half of the 1920s, or the late 1950s/1960s, then. Stylistically, I happen to follow the later category most. Wide-legged trousers were fashionable between the mid 1920s up to the mid 1950s, if I'm correct. Personally, I do without wide...
It irritates me when university professors try too hard to be funny, and to even use profanity during their lectures, even subtly mocking somebody or something associated with political or spiritual beliefs. A small amount of my professors over the years have been like that, and it strikes me as...
Does anybody know if the Silver Spur hat is still being sold, somewhere? Everything Australian is out of them, now.

Exactly! I just randomly put one on when the mood strikes, often when I'm at university, and almost always to church. I haven't tried wearing any with jeans yet, though. Frankly, I wear ties more often than I wear hats, but when the two go together, it could make for a very complete look.
Thanks for that post! It was interesting to see these pieces again, and which clothes were chosen for the museum. I wonder what will happen to the clothes that don't get put in? Could they be put for sale at some point after the show?
Now that you mentioned it, I remember the same thing about the Buffalo Bill look.
For a 1920s longer haired look, there was also this fellow:

He's Gilbert Roland. I don't know if he...
To go with the length in the back? :)
I think he's always had big earlobes.
As for the 1920s and '30s "Democrat haircut," I have no idea about which Democrat politicians would have had hair that long in the back. I have almost no doubt that a few Democrats, or Republicans for that...
Javadave, you did very good today! What a price, the modern Open Roads sell for around 170 dollars, and usually, vintage Open Roads can be much more expensive.
That's a very good jacket! You're right, the collar is very large, but it should be great for colder weather. In more normal temperatures, it could just be left down.
Dumb YouTube comment is right, and obviously, the answer to that is no. Flat caps also have the advantage of not being as heavily criticized as fedoras. I wouldn't worry about rude remarks while wearing either variety of hat, though.
Unfortunately, I agree with you. Recently, I had been thinking about the Star Trek actors, especially Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, both being in their 80s and advancing in age. I've heard of Nimoy's recent health problems, as well, but I thought that a recovery could have been made. Spock...
Fastuni, very nice suit! I agree that the jacket would look good worn without even the matching trousers. It reminds me somewhat of an early 1960s (1962 or 1963) Yugoslavian suit jacket that was my grandfather's. It is a dark, charcoal grey jacket with faint burgundy pinstripes, and he wore it...
