I laughed at Feraud's comment as well, until I realized I look like a logger most of the time. Thankfully, I'm way too porky for Japanese jeans, and I've had a beard for about 25 years, so well before it was hip. The rest I can't help. When you're built like a lumberjack or blacksmith, and have a lifelong love of functional, tough-built clothing, you're going to look like a hipster at some point. Happily, I'm too old and not cool enough to have anybody think I'm "hip." When the workwear hipster thing goes out of style, I'll go back to being the guy who looks like Paul Bunyan, like before. Thanks for the laugh, Feraud. Frank

Wow, Thanks for the thread. Running into the Humans of New York guy was just fun and out of nowhere. Great interviewer!

Just been in town for a while taking care of some of our retailers and mostly to examine and date some historic hats for the 150th Anniversary and to attend the party for the new Stetson neon sign that went up at JJ Hat Center in Manhattan

Is that your Powell fedora, the color "tusk," or is it a newer Stetson-made hat? If the latter is not true, are there plans to make it available as a Stetson hat? It's an excellent hat that seems to have gathered a very positive reception on Humans of New York's Facebook page, probably inspiring a number of people to buy a fedora, at any point soon.

I found the reference to the Powell hat on your website:

Do my eyes deceive me, or do I see brand new Fawn ORs with unshaped crowns in one of them there display cases? In which case I say, there IS a God in Israel!

Thank you. We'll being doing events across the country for the 150th anniversary. And I'll post some historic pics of the hats I was examining on my instagram. The hat I'm wearing is the "Grand Central" and is a new open crown in the lineup.

I saw the Grand Central on the JJ Hatter Facebook page. I need one. I'll be good and wait for my Stetsonian to arrive before I order one though.

Is there a schedule of events somewhere?

Great photo. I *love* that coat: externally, at least, it looks like a more refined, civilian version of the Swedish M1909.
