I ordered a hat from them last year. I chose whatever their middle shipping option is, and I don't recall any major delays. I would order from them again based on my experience, but I have read some less favorable comments here as well.
If you are running the tracking number through Australia...
None of us can answer your question. You need to take it up with the hat maker himself. Perhaps the custom hat is nonrefundable. as many custom items are. Or perhaps it will be a relatively easy matter for him to sell it to another customer, or he'll be willing to accommodate you in...
Hey, my old thread!
FWIW, I ended up getting a Stylemaster because I felt the Bogart was too tapered. It's a great hat, but that was unfortunately before I knew that "Akubras shrink so order a size up."
I've been thinking of getting a Cattleman or a Tablelands in sand for summer use in those instances where a straw hat would be too fragile.
Do you guys by think that the more vertical shape of the crown on the Cattleman would make the hat any cooler than the Tablelands by permitting more...
Speaking of prices, how is it that they can vary so much from retailer to retailer for the same hat? I'm referring to ubiquitous styles like the Cattleman, for example, which is US$20 cheaper at Everything Australian than it is at Hats Direct.
I hasten to add that Hats Direct is a great...
I've ordered from Hats Direct and Audtralian Gear/Hats by the Hundred and have had good experiences with both. And both have been good about responding to questions.
Nice hat GGlep - congratulations!
It's interesting that the Silverbelly shade looks a bit different in the two photos you posted. Is that just a result of the camera, or does it really look different in different lighting conditions.?
On another front, I wore my Angler out in the rain for a...
Slightly off topic, but here's an item about the town of Coober Pedy, after which the hat was named:

I'm going to guess it's a Coober Pedy from David Morgan. They sell them with a ribbon band, presumably so as not to compete with their Lightning Ridge, which is similar and has the leather/opal band.
In any event, that's a nice-looking color.
I got my Fed IV a few weeks ago. I decided I wasn't up to bashing it myself, so I took it to a local hat store (which shall remain nameless) and had them do it for me, in a basic center dent. After a while I decided I didn't like it - the crown was too high and, shockingly for a "professional"...
Two Akubra sightings today at the same train station - a woman with what I believe to be a Pastoralist and a guy in a Banjo. Who would have thought?
Edit: more likely a Plainsman than a Pastoralist
