I thought the burnt oak looked a little darker than the regency fawn. I haven't checked my size in the Fedora with HD yet. I'm still leaning toward waiting for the moonstone Stylemaster. -

Does the Stylemaster have less taper than the Bogart? It seems that way from the pictures. -

Thanks. That's a nice-looking hat, but I'm still leaning toward the Moonstone. (It looks like a more interesting color than Stetson's Caribou, for whatever reason.) Besides, imagine our embarrassment if we ran into each other wearing steel grey Stylemasters. -

That is excellent advice. I was able to make it out to Bencraft, and I’m glad I did as it really helped clarify things. For example, I found I didn’t like the lighter grey (Stetson’s Caribou, which I gather is somewhat similar to Akubra’s Moonstone) as much as I thought I would. I was also... -

I've been considering both of these, and I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts on the two styles (which you like better, how they compare to each other, whatever). Thanks for all of the responses, guys. I appreciate them. It's a really nice-looking hat in general and I liked the way I looked in it. It's tempting, but I'm just not sure I'm ready to spend that kind of money on a hat at the moment. -

Yes, ultimately it makes no sense to order blind when I can visit a hat shop here. I'll need to find time to get out to Bencraft. JJ is more convenient, but it's prices are much higher. (The Borsalino Film, for example, is $240 at Bencraft and $350 at JJ!) -

After poking around a bit here I'm thinking seriously about the Stylemaster in moonstone. It looks like a cool color, and I've seen a few posts stating that it is very versatile and goes with just about everything. It's too bad I can't try one on somewhere, though. -

Thanks. I've been to JJ Hat Center; it's where I tried on the Borsalino Film. I want to get out to Bencraft when I have time, as their prices seem more reasonable. Unfortunately, it seems that no one around here carries Akubra. I'd love to try some of those on. -

More often than not, it will be black or grey pants, and sometimes olive. I don't wear khaki that often. I wear either a black or dark brown coat. I'm wondering if finding one hat color to complement everything will be difficult. Those are both open crown, aren't they? I have a feeling... -
